5. Setup and Installation

5.1 App Download and Registration

  1. Download the "Tuya Smart" or "Smart Life" app from your mobile app store (Google Play for Android, App Store for iOS) or by scanning the QR code provided in the manual.
  2. Register a new Tuya Smart account. If you already have an account, simply log in.

5.2 Wiring the Module

Ensure power is disconnected before wiring. The module provides signal output only; it does not output voltage. Connect the input power according to your module's voltage variant (DC/AC 7-32V or AC 85-250V).

5.3 Device Pairing (WiFi)

  1. Ensure your smartphone or tablet is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network with internet access and Bluetooth is enabled.
  2. Power on the Smart Switch module.
  3. Reset the device: If the network indicator (red light) is not blinking fast (0.5S/time), press and hold the Reset button on the module for 10 seconds until the red light blinks rapidly. If it's already blinking fast, skip this step.
  4. Open the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. Click the "+" icon in the top right corner, then select "Add Device" or "Auto Scan".
  5. Wait a few seconds for the app to find the device. Once found, click "Next".
  6. Select your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the correct password.
  7. Name your device and complete the pairing process.

5.4 RF Remote Control Setup

This process allows you to pair a 433MHz RF remote control with your Smart Switch module.

  1. In the Tuya Smart/Smart Life app, navigate to the device settings for your Smart Switch.
  2. Look for an option like "RF remote control setup" or similar.
  3. When prompted, press the desired button on your 433MHz RF remote control within 10 seconds to pair it. The module's indicator light may flash to confirm successful pairing.
  4. To delete a paired remote, follow the app's instructions, typically involving selecting the remote in the RF setup menu and choosing "Delete".

NOTE: The system can store up to 20 remote controls. If more than 20 remotes are added, the initial remote controls will be lost.

6. Operating Modes

6.1 Inching Mode (Momentary)

In inching mode, when you activate the relay (e.g., by pressing a button in the app or on the remote), it will turn on for a set duration and then automatically turn off. The inching time can be configured within the Tuya Smart/Smart Life app.

  • Default Function: Press the open relay via mobile phone, then it cuts off immediately after the set inching time.
  • Applications: Ideal for devices requiring a brief power pulse, such as garage door openers, electric locks, or computer power buttons.

6.2 Self-locking Mode (Toggle)

In self-locking mode, the relay acts as a traditional on/off switch. One activation turns the device on, and another activation turns it off.

  • Function: Press to turn on the relay (pull-on), press again to turn off the relay (cut off).
  • Applications: Suitable for devices that need to remain on or off until manually changed, such as lights, fans, or refrigerators.

    • Ensure your smartphone/tablet is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network.
    • Verify that the network indicator (red light) on the module is blinking fast (0.5s/time). If not, reset the device by holding the Reset button for 10 seconds.
    • Check your WiFi password for correctness.
    • Ensure your router is not blocking MAC addresses (MAC-open).
  • RF Remote Control not working:
    • Ensure the remote is properly paired with the module (refer to Section 5.4).
    • Check the remote control's battery (12V 23A, not included with module).
    • The system can only store up to 20 remote controls. If you've added more, older remotes might be overwritten.
  • App functionality issues:
    • Ensure your smartphone/tablet has access to the APP store (Google Play/App Store) for app updates.
