5. Setup and Installation

5.1. Rear Panel Connections

Familiarize yourself with the rear panel connections:

  • ISO Plug: For power and speaker connections.
  • External Mic In: For connecting an external microphone.
  • Left/Right Channel Output: Audio outputs.
  • Video Out-1, Video Out-2: Video outputs.
  • Video Input: General video input.
  • Reversing Camera Input: Dedicated input for the rearview camera.

5.2. Wiring Diagram

Carefully follow the wiring diagram below for proper installation. Incorrect wiring can damage the unit or your vehicle's electrical system. If you are unsure, consult a professional installer.

Wiring Key:

  • Power & Control (Connector B):
    • Red: ACC (+12V Ignition Switch)
    • Black: GND (Ground wire B-)
    • Blue: ANT (Radio Antenna)
    • Green: ILLUMINATION (Illuminate)
    • Brown: KEY (Steering wheel control)
    • Yellow: BATTERY (Power Supply +12V)
    • Pink: REVERSE (Reversing camera detection line)
    • Orange: BRAKE (Parking brake cable)
  • Speakers (Connector A):
    • White / White-black striped: Front Left Speaker (+/-)
    • Gray / Gray-black striped: Front Right Speaker (+/-)
    • Green / Green-black striped: Rear Left Speaker (+/-)
    • Purple / Purple-black striped: Rear Right Speaker (+/-)

5.3. Reversing Camera Installation (Optional)

If you have purchased the optional rearview camera, follow these steps for installation:

  • Install the rearview camera at the rear of your car.
  • Connect the camera's red wire to the positive pole of the reverse lamp.
  • Connect the camera's black wire to the power negative pole (ground).
  • Connect the camera's video output cable to the "Reversing Camera Input" (CAM VIDEO IN) on the car radio's rear panel.
  • Connect the pink wire (BACK - reversing detection line) from the car radio's wiring harness to the positive wire of the reverse lamp. This signal tells the radio to switch to the rearview display when reverse gear is engaged.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Panel Key Functions

  • Left Knob: Power On/Off (long press), Mode selection, End Call, Volume adjustment, Access settings.
  • Left USB Port: Front USB for media playback.
  • Microphone Input Hole: For built-in microphone.
  • Right Knob: Band switching (FM), Auto search station, Answer/End phone calls.
  • Right USB Port: USB for charging devices.
  • Reset Button: Small button below the right knob to restart the unit.

6.2. UI Interface Display

6.3. Apple CarPlay & Android Auto

Connect your iPhone or Android phone via USB to enable CarPlay or Android Auto. This allows you to use your phone's features safely on the car's display.

  • CarPlay: Conveniently use iPhone features while driving. Siri, navigation, make calls, send and receive messages, and listen to your favorite songs. Compatible with all iPhones. Connect your phone via the front USB port.
  • Android Auto: Control apps from your Android phone on the stereo touchscreen. Google Assistant, navigation, phone calls, messages, music, and more. Requires an Android phone running Android 6.0 or higher and an active data cable connection.

6.4. Phone Mirror-Link

Mirror-Link allows you to sync your phone screen to the car stereo. Connect your Android or iOS device via USB and select "Mirror" from the PhoneLink menu.

6.5. Bluetooth Functionality

Pair your smartphone with the car radio via Bluetooth for hands-free calling and wireless audio streaming.

  • Go to the Bluetooth menu on the car radio.
  • Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone and search for "Carkit" (default name).
  • Pair the devices. Once connected, you can make/receive calls and play music wirelessly.

6.6. Steering Wheel Controls (SWC)

The unit supports learning functions for steering wheel controls. This allows you to map your car's steering wheel buttons to control the radio.

  • Navigate to the "Wheel" or "Steering Wheel Control" settings in the unit's menu.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to assign functions to your steering wheel buttons.

6.7. Reversing Camera Display

When the car is in reverse gear, the full-screen reversing image will automatically switch on, providing a clear view of the area behind your vehicle.

6.8. Colorful Button Lights

Customize the button backlighting to match your car's interior or your personal preference. You can choose from seven colors or set them to automatically transform.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the screen and unit. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner can be used, then wipe dry immediately.
  • Avoid Liquids: Do not spray liquids directly onto the unit.
  • Temperature: Avoid exposing the unit to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the unit has adequate ventilation to prevent overheating.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Unit does not power on: Check all power connections (ACC, Battery, Ground). Ensure the fuse is intact.
  • No sound: Check speaker wiring. Ensure volume is not muted or set too low. Verify audio output settings.
  • Screen is unresponsive or frozen: Use the reset button (small hole near the right knob) to restart the unit.
  • CarPlay/Android Auto not connecting:
    • Ensure you are using a high-quality, data-enabled USB cable.
    • Check your phone's settings for CarPlay/Android Auto permissions.
    • For Android Auto, ensure your phone is running Android 6.0 or higher and has the Android Auto app installed.
  • Reversing camera not displaying:
    • Verify the camera's power and video connections.
    • Ensure the pink "REVERSE" detection wire is correctly connected to the reverse lamp's positive wire.
  • Unit feels warm during operation: It is normal for electronic devices to generate some heat. However, if it becomes excessively hot, ensure proper ventilation around the unit and check for any short circuits in the wiring.

9. User Tips

  • Vehicle Compatibility: Before installation, verify the unit's 1 Din size (178x52mm) fits your car's dashboard opening. Some vehicles may require a specific installation frame or modification.
  • Wiring Check: Double-check all wiring connections, especially power and ground, to prevent issues like overheating or malfunction.
  • Android Auto Connection: For Android Auto, ensure your phone has the necessary Google services and a stable data connection for optimal performance.
