4.2 Flash Modes

The TR-982 II offers several flash modes to suit various shooting scenarios:

  • TTL (Through-The-Lens) Auto-Metering: The flash automatically adjusts its light output based on the camera's metering system, providing accurate exposure.
  • Manual Mode: Allows you to manually set the flash output from 1/128 to 1/1 power, with 8 levels of control and fine-tuning compensation.
  • Multi (Stroboscopic) Mode: Fires a series of rapid flashes during a single exposure, ideal for capturing multiple movements of a subject.
  • S1 Mode (Optical Slave): The flash fires in response to the first flash from a master flash.
  • S2 Mode (Optical Slave with Pre-flash Ignore): The flash fires in response to the second flash from a master flash, ignoring the pre-flash used for TTL metering.
  • Wireless Master Mode: The speedlite acts as a master unit to control other compatible slave flashes wirelessly.
  • Wireless Slave Mode: The speedlite acts as a slave unit, triggered by a master flash. Supports 4 channels and A, B, C groups.

4.3 Sync Modes

  • 1st-Curtain Sync: The flash fires immediately after the first curtain opens.
  • 2nd-Curtain Sync: The flash fires just before the second curtain closes, creating a trail of light behind moving subjects.
  • High-Speed Sync (HSS): Allows the flash to synchronize with shutter speeds faster than the camera's native flash sync speed (up to 1/8000s). This is useful for freezing fast motion or using wide apertures in bright ambient light.

The flash head's zoom range is 18-180mm. You can set it to:

  • Automatic Zoom: The flash head automatically adjusts its zoom position to match the focal length of your lens.
  • Manual Zoom: You can manually adjust the zoom position using the ZOOM button and directional controls to concentrate or spread the light.

4.5 Flash Head Rotation

The flash head offers extensive rotation capabilities for bouncing light and creative lighting setups:
