3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Mounting

The YCV8-06 relay is designed for DIN rail mounting (EN/IEC 60715). Ensure the mounting location is free from excessive vibration, moisture, and extreme temperatures outside the specified operating range.

3.2 Wiring

Refer to the wiring diagram below for proper connection. Ensure all connections are secure and comply with local electrical codes. The maximum cable size for terminals is solid wiremax 1X2.5 or 2X1.5 / with sleeve max 1X2.5 (AWG 12).

  • Power Supply/Monitoring Inputs:
    • M460 (3-Phase 3-Wire): Connect L1, L2, L3 to the corresponding terminals.
    • M265 (3-Phase 4-Wire): Connect L1, L2, L3, and Neutral (N) to the corresponding terminals.
  • Output Contacts: The relay features 1SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw) output. Connect your control circuit (e.g., contactor coil KM) to terminals 11, 12, and 14 as required. Terminal 11 is common, 12 is normally closed (NC), and 14 is normally open (NO).

3.3 Initial Settings

The front panel features several adjustment knobs:

  • Un (Voltage Selection): Set the rated operating voltage according to your system (e.g., 220V, 380V, 460V for M460; 127V, 220V, 265V for M265).
  • U> (Overvoltage Threshold): Adjust the percentage deviation above the selected 'Un' at which the relay should trip (2%-20%).
  • U< (Undervoltage Threshold): Adjust the percentage deviation below the selected 'Un' at which the relay should trip (2%-20%).
  • Asy (Asymmetry Threshold): Set the percentage of voltage imbalance that will trigger the relay (5%-15%).
  • t (Time Delay): Adjust the delay time before the relay trips after a fault is detected (0.1s-10s).

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Indicators

  • Green LED (Un): Illuminates when the power supply is present and within the acceptable range.
  • Red LED (R): Illuminates when the output relay is active (tripped due to a fault condition).

4.2 Functionality

The YCV8-06 monitors the following conditions based on your settings:

  • Phase Failure: Detects the loss of one or more phases.
  • Phase Sequence: Ensures the correct phase rotation (L1-L2-L3).
  • Overvoltage: Trips if the voltage exceeds the 'U>' threshold.
  • Undervoltage: Trips if the voltage drops below the 'U<' threshold.
  • Asymmetry: Trips if the voltage imbalance between phases exceeds the 'Asy' threshold.

The relay will activate its output (Red LED 'R' on) when a fault condition is detected and the set time delay 't' has elapsed. The reset time is 1000ms.

  • No Green 'Un' LED:
    • Check the main power supply to the L1, L2, L3 (and N for M265) terminals.
    • Verify that the input voltage is within the selected 'Un' range.
  • Red 'R' LED is ON (Relay Tripped):
    • Phase Failure: Check for a lost phase in the monitored system.
    • Incorrect Phase Sequence: Verify the phase rotation (L1-L2-L3). Correct by swapping two phase wires.
    • Overvoltage/Undervoltage: Measure the system voltage to see if it exceeds the 'U>' or falls below the 'U<' threshold. Adjust thresholds if necessary.
    • Asymmetry: Measure phase voltages to check for imbalance. Adjust the 'Asy' threshold if needed.
    • Time Delay: Ensure the fault condition persists beyond the set 't' time delay.
  • Relay Not Tripping on Fault:
    • Review the 'Un', 'U>', 'U<', 'Asy', and 't' settings to ensure they are appropriate for your application.
    • Confirm the wiring is correct and all phases are properly connected to the monitoring terminals.
  • Intermittent Operation:
    • Check for loose wiring connections.
    • Ensure the operating environment is within specified temperature limits.

If issues persist after basic troubleshooting, consult a qualified electrician.

7. User Tips

  • Verify Voltage Type: Always confirm whether your system is 3-phase 3-wire (M460) or 3-phase 4-wire (M265) before installation to ensure correct wiring and model selection.
  • Careful Calibration: Take time to accurately set the voltage, over/undervoltage, asymmetry, and time delay thresholds. Incorrect settings can lead to nuisance tripping or inadequate protection.
