3.3 Tuya App Installation and Device Pairing
- Download the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app from your device's app store (iOS & Android).
- Register or log in to your account.
- Ensure your access control keypad is powered on and in pairing mode (refer to the keypad's LED indicator for status).
- In the app, tap 'Add Device' (usually a '+' icon). The app will search for nearby devices.
- Select 'WIFI Access Control' from the discovered devices.
- Enter your 2.4G WiFi network name and password.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Unlocking Methods

- Fingerprint Unlock: Place your registered finger on the capacitive fingerprint sensor. The keypad will indicate successful recognition and unlock the door.
- Password Unlock: Enter your 4-6 digit password on the touch keypad. The keypad will indicate successful entry and unlock the door.
- RFID Card Unlock: Present your registered 125KHz EM RFID card to the card area on the keypad. The keypad will recognize the card and unlock the door.
- Tuya APP Unlock: Open the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app, select your 'WIFI Access Control' device, and tap the unlock button on the app interface.
4.2 User Management (via Tuya App)
The Super Admin or Admin can add and delete users directly through the Tuya Smart app.
- Open the Tuya Smart app and select your 'WIFI Access Control' device.
- Navigate to 'Member manage'.
- You can add fingerprints, passwords (codes), or RFID cards for new users.
- Adding Fingerprint: Follow the app's instructions to repeatedly place and lift the finger on the keypad's sensor until registered.
- Adding Password: Input a 6-digit code or use a randomly generated one.
- Adding Card: Present the RFID card to the keypad's card area when prompted by the app.
4.3 Temporary Codes
The app allows you to generate temporary codes for one-time or period-based access. These codes are valid for a specified duration (e.g., 6 hours) and can be used only once if set as such.
4.4 Unlocking Records
You can view a log of all unlocking events (fingerprint, password, card, app) directly within the Tuya Smart app, including the time and method used.
5. Maintenance
- Regularly clean the keypad surface with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ensure the fingerprint sensor is free from dirt or moisture for optimal performance.
- Periodically check all wiring connections for tightness and signs of wear.
- The IP66 waterproof rating protects against dust and strong jets of water, but avoid submerging the device.
6. Troubleshooting
- Device not connecting to Wi-Fi: Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4G. Check that the device is in pairing mode and your Wi-Fi password is correct. If changing Wi-Fi networks after initial setup, you may need to reset the device to re-enter pairing mode (refer to the keypad's specific reset procedure in its included manual).
- Door not unlocking: Verify that the correct fingerprint, password, or RFID card is being used. Check power supply connections and ensure the electric lock is receiving power.
- Power Outage: In case of a power outage, the system's behavior depends on the type of electric lock installed.
- Fail-Safe Locks (NC type): These locks unlock when power is lost, allowing entry/exit during an outage.
- Fail-Secure Locks (NO type): These locks remain locked when power is lost, maintaining security but preventing entry/exit without an alternative method (e.g., mechanical key).
- Fingerprint recognition slow or failing: Ensure your finger and the sensor are clean and dry. Try re-registering your fingerprint for better accuracy.
7. User Tips
- The Tuya app allows full functionality via Wi-Fi, even if your phone's Bluetooth is turned off, as long as the access control unit is connected to your home Wi-Fi network.
- For optimal fingerprint recognition, ensure your finger is placed firmly and consistently on the sensor. The recognition process is typically quick, taking less than a second.
- Consider the fail-safe or fail-secure nature of your chosen electric lock when planning for power outages. Always have a mechanical key or alternative entry method for fail-secure systems.
- When adding new users, take advantage of the temporary code feature for guests or service personnel, providing time-limited access without compromising your main codes or fingerprints.
