5. Safety Information

WARNING: Risk of Electric Shock. Installation should only be performed by a qualified electrician or in accordance with local electrical codes.

  • Do not exceed the maximum load rating of 15A per socket or 2900W total.
  • Ensure the power is turned off at the circuit breaker before installation or maintenance.
  • This device is designed for indoor use only.
  • Keep away from water and high humidity environments.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself.
  • Use only with compatible electrical wiring and junction boxes.

6. Installation

  1. Turn Off Power: Locate your circuit breaker and turn off the power to the outlet where you intend to install the smart socket. Verify the power is off using a voltage tester.
  2. Remove Old Socket: Carefully remove the existing wall plate and unscrew the old electrical socket from the wall box. Disconnect the wires, noting their positions (Live, Neutral, Earth).
  3. Wire the Smart Socket: Connect the wires from your wall box to the corresponding terminals on the HIMOJO Smart WiFi Wall Socket. Ensure all connections are secure.
    • Live (L) wire to the Live terminal.
    • Neutral (N) wire to the Neutral terminal.
    • Earth (E) wire to the Earth terminal.
  4. Mount the Socket: Gently push the wired smart socket into the wall box. Secure it with the provided mounting screws.
  5. Attach Wall Plate: Fasten the decorative wall plate over the installed socket.
  6. Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.

7. Initial Setup & App Pairing

  1. Download the App: Scan the QR code provided in the package or search for "Smart Life" in the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) and download the application.
  2. Register/Log In: Open the Smart Life app and register a new account or log in if you already have one.
  3. Add Device: Tap the "+" icon in the top right corner of the app to add a new device. Select "Electrical Outlet" or "Wall Switch" (the exact category might vary slightly).
  4. Enter Wi-Fi Details: Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the smart socket to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Ensure your phone is also connected to the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during pairing.
  5. Pairing Mode: The smart socket will typically enter pairing mode automatically when first powered on, indicated by a rapidly blinking LED light. If not, press and hold one of the touch buttons on the socket for 5-10 seconds until the LED blinks rapidly.
  6. Complete Pairing: The app will detect the device and complete the pairing process. Once successful, you can rename the socket and individual outlets/USB ports for easier control.

7.1 Voice Control Setup (Alexa/Google Assistant)

To enable voice control, link your Smart Life account to your Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant app:

  1. Open the Amazon Alexa or Google Home app.
  2. Navigate to the "Skills & Games" (Alexa) or "Works with Google" (Google Home) section.
  3. Search for "Smart Life" and enable the skill/service.
  4. Log in with your Smart Life account credentials when prompted.
  5. Discover devices. Your HIMOJO Smart WiFi Wall Socket should now appear and be controllable via voice commands.

8. Operating Instructions

8.1 Manual Control

Each electrical outlet on the smart socket can be manually turned on or off by pressing the corresponding touch button on the socket's surface.

8.2 App Control

Through the Smart Life app, you can:

  • Turn On/Off: Toggle power for each individual socket or the USB ports.
  • Set Schedules: Create daily or weekly schedules for your appliances to automate their operation.
  • Set Timers: Use countdown timers for temporary power control.
  • Energy Monitoring: View real-time and historical power consumption data for connected devices.

8.3 Voice Control

Once linked with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, use voice commands to control your connected appliances. Examples:

  • Cleaning: Disconnect power before cleaning. Wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Smart Life app for available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Troubleshooting: If the device becomes unresponsive, try restarting it by turning off and on the power at the circuit breaker. If issues persist, refer to the troubleshooting section.

10. Troubleshooting

Q: The smart socket is not connecting to Wi-Fi.
A: Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The device does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi. Check that your Wi-Fi password is correct and that the router is within range. Try resetting the socket by holding the touch button until the LED blinks rapidly, then attempt pairing again.
Q: Voice control is not working.
A: Verify that your Smart Life account is correctly linked to your Amazon Alexa or Google Home app. Ensure the device names in the Smart Life app are recognized by your voice assistant. Try re-discovering devices in your voice assistant app.
Q: The socket is unresponsive.
A: Check if the power supply to the socket is active. If it is, try turning off the power at the circuit breaker for a few seconds and then turning it back on to restart the device. If the issue persists, consider re-pairing the device with the app.
Q: USB ports are not charging.
A: Ensure the socket has power. Check the USB cable and the device you are trying to charge. The total current for USB ports is 4A; ensure you are not exceeding this limit if charging multiple devices simultaneously.

11. User Tips

  • Naming Devices: Use simple, distinct names for your sockets and connected appliances in the Smart Life app. This makes voice commands easier and more reliable.
  • Group Control: For multiple smart sockets or devices, create groups in the Smart Life app (e.g., "Living Room Lights") to control them simultaneously with a single command.
  • Automate Routines: Explore the automation features in the Smart Life app to create routines based on time, weather, or other smart device triggers for a truly automated home.
  • Regular Checks: Periodically check your Wi-Fi connection and the status of your smart devices in the app to ensure everything is functioning as expected.
