1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the PROTMEX PTH-9BW Tuya Wifi 9-in-1 Multifunctional Air Quality Detector. This device is designed to provide comprehensive monitoring of your indoor air quality, offering real-time data on various environmental parameters. With its smart features and portable design, it helps you maintain a healthy living environment.

The PTH-9BW can detect and display concentrations of Formaldehyde (HCHO), Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC), Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Benzene (C6H6), Particulate Matter (PM2.5 and PM10), and calculate the Air Quality Index (AQI). Additionally, it measures temperature and humidity, and includes a clock with an alarm function. Its integrated Wi-Fi capability allows for remote monitoring via the Tuya Smart APP.

4. Device Layout and Controls

Button Functions:

  • RESET Button (located in a small hole): Single press with a pointed object to reset the device.
  • Left Button (Up/Increase):
    • Single press: Wake up/turn off backlight.
    • Long press: Power on/off the device.
  • Middle Button (Switch):
    • Single press: Switch between displaying time, date, and year.
    • Long press: Enter or exit network configuration mode.
  • Right Button (Down/Reduce):
    • Long press: Toggle the buzzer on/off.

Note on Alarm: When the AQI exceeds 100 and the buzzer is enabled, the device will sound an alarm. To stop the alarm, long press the 'Up/Increase' button.

5. Setup

5.1. Initial Charging

Before first use, ensure the device is fully charged using the provided TYPE-C cable and a 5V-1A power adapter (not included). Connect the cable to the Type-C charging port on the side of the device.

5.2. Power On/Off

To power on the device, long press the 'Up/Increase' button. To power off, long press the same button again.

5.3. Tuya Smart APP Connection (Wi-Fi)

  1. Download the App: Scan the QR code provided in the original manual or search for "Tuya Smart" in your mobile app store to download and install the application.
  2. Enable Phone Functions: On your smartphone, enable Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Location services.
  3. Enter Network Configuration Mode: On the PTH-9BW device, long press the 'Switch' (middle) button until the Wi-Fi icon on the screen starts flashing. This indicates the device is in network configuration mode.
  4. Add Device in App: Open the Tuya Smart APP. On the homepage, tap "Add Device" or the "+" icon in the top right corner.
  5. Discover Device: The app will automatically search for nearby devices. Once the PTH-9BW appears in the "Discovered" list, tap its icon.
  6. Follow Prompts: Follow the on-screen instructions in the app to complete the connection process.

Important Notes for APP Connection:

  • Alternatively, you can manually add the device by navigating to "Sensor - Sensor (Wi-Fi)" in the app's device list.
  • The device will synchronize its time, date, and year with the network via the APP.
  • Ensure both the product and your mobile phone are connected to the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during the connection process. 5GHz networks are not supported.
  • If the network conditions are good, the APP may automatically pop up a connection window for known devices after you tap "Add Device".

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Display Overview

The LCD screen displays the following information:

  • Top Bar: Year/Date/Time, Wi-Fi status icon, Buzzer status icon, Battery level indicator.
  • AQI (Air Quality Index): A central numerical value with an analog strip indicating overall air quality.
  • Temperature: Current ambient temperature.
  • Humidity: Current ambient humidity.
  • Gas/Particulate Readings: HCHO (Formaldehyde), TVOC (Total Volatile Organic Compounds), CO2 (Carbon Dioxide), PM2.5 (Fine Particulate Matter), PM10 (Coarse Particulate Matter), C6H6 (Benzene).

6.2. Air Quality Index (AQI) Interpretation

The AQI display uses a color-coded system to quickly indicate air quality: Green for Good, Yellow for Warning, and Red for Danger.

The AQI is a comprehensive indicator of air quality. The device displays AQI levels with corresponding colors:

  • Green (Good): AQI 0-50
  • Yellow (Normal/Warning): AQI 51-100
  • Red (Bad/Danger): AQI 101-500

An AQI over standard levels can be harmful to human health. The product continuously monitors and displays changes in AQI in real-time.

6.3. Clock and Alarm Functions

The device functions as a clock, displaying the current time, date, and year. Use the 'Switch' button to cycle through these displays. The device also includes an alarm function. Refer to the 'Detailed Design' image (Figure 3) for visual representation of the clock and alarm icons.

6.4. Buzzer Control

To toggle the buzzer on or off, long press the 'Down/Reduce' button. The buzzer icon on the display will indicate its current status.

6.5. Backlight Control

Single press the 'Up/Increase' button to wake up or turn off the display backlight.

8. Maintenance and Care

8.1. General Precautions

  • Do not expose the product to water or place it in environments exceeding 60℃. Keep away from fire sources.
  • This product is a precision measuring instrument; do not attempt to disassemble it without authorization.
  • Avoid using the device for measurements in environments filled with dust or corrosive gases.
  • When measuring inside a car, do not place the device directly under sunlight for extended periods to prevent damage.

8.2. Cleaning

Wipe the device gently with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

10. User Tips

  • Optimal Placement: For the most accurate readings, place the air quality monitor in a central location within the area you wish to monitor, away from direct drafts, windows, or heating/cooling vents.
  • Initial Calibration: When first powered on or moved to a new environment, allow the device some time (e.g., 5-10 minutes) to stabilize and calibrate its sensors for accurate readings.
  • Remote Monitoring: Utilize the Tuya Smart APP to set up alerts for specific pollutant levels, allowing you to be notified even when you're not near the device.
  • Battery Life: To maximize battery life, consider connecting the device to a continuous power source via its Type-C port if used in a fixed location.

11. Warranty and Support

11.1. Warranty Period

PROTMEX provides a 1-year warranty from the date of receipt for quality issues arising from manufacturing defects or craftsmanship. This warranty covers repair services for performance faults listed in the 'Product Performance Fault Table' after verification by an authorized after-sales service center.

Within 7 days of receipt, if performance faults listed in the 'Product Performance Fault Table' occur and are confirmed by the after-sales service center, you are eligible for free return or exchange services.

11.2. Non-Warranty Conditions

The warranty does not cover:

  • Damage caused by human factors, including but not limited to accident, negligence, misuse, abuse, liquid ingress, collision, or unauthorized alteration.
  • Damage resulting from the use of non-original or unauthorized accessories.
  • Torn or altered labels, anti-counterfeit marks, or product serial numbers.
  • Products with an expired warranty period.
  • Damage caused by force majeure (e.g., natural disasters).
  • Issues not corresponding to the 'Product Performance Fault Table'.
  • Disposable batteries.
