Setup and Installation

Safety Precautions

CAUTION! Electrical Shock or Equipment Damage Hazard. Disconnect power supply before installation to prevent electric shock or short-circuit.

Installation Steps

Your thermostat is designed for installation within a standard European 503 pattress box.

  1. Step 1: Keep power off.
  2. Step 2: Fasten the mounting plate to the wall box with screws.
  3. Step 3: Connect the power supply and load wires into the appropriate terminals as per the wiring diagram.
  4. Step 4: Snap the power module into the mounting steel plate.
  5. Step 5: Snap the glass panel onto the mounting plate.
  6. Step 6: Embed the display module onto the glass panel. The installation is now complete.

Model Identification for Wiring

  • HTWZ: Suitable for water heating equipment.
  • HTEZ: Suitable for electric heating equipment.
  • HTBZ: Suitable for wall-hung boilers and boiler equipment.

General Wiring Notes:

  • HTWZ: For water heating systems.

Zigbee Connection and APP Control

Before using the Zigbee thermostat for the first time, you must install the "Smartlife" app and ensure you have a connected Zigbee smart gateway. The thermostat connects through this gateway.

  1. Install the APP: Search for "Smartlife" in the Apple App Store or Google Play, or scan the QR code provided in the full user manual (PDF) with a browser.
  2. Registration and Installation: Complete the registration and installation process following the guidance within the Smartlife app.
  3. Connect Thermostat: Follow the in-app instructions to connect your thermostat to the Zigbee gateway.

Operating Instructions

Basic Operations

  • Power On/Off: Press the Power button to turn the thermostat on or off.
  • Manual & Programmable Mode: Touch the '88' icon to switch between manual mode and programmable mode. In manual mode, a specific icon will display at the bottom of the screen. In programmable mode, the period icon will be visible on the left side.
  • Setting Temperature: In programmable mode, the temperature can be temporarily adjusted. It will revert to the programmed temperature in the next time period. In manual mode, the set temperature is permanently saved until changed again.
  • Adjusting/Setting the Clock: Touch and hold the '88' icon to set the minute, hour, and weekday (1 = Monday, 2 = Tuesday, etc.) using the arrow buttons. The settings are saved when the device is powered off and on.
  • Locking Your Thermostat (Child Lock): Press and hold the lock icon (☑) for 5 seconds to lock or unlock your thermostat. In the APP's advanced options, you can select either a full lock or a half lock.

  • Adjusting/Setting Program Schedules: Touch and hold the '88' icon to set the minute, hour, and week (1 = Monday, 2 = Tuesday, etc.) using the arrow buttons. Press '88' once more, and the Monday schedule settings will appear (with '1' shown at the bottom of the screen). Use the arrow buttons to adjust the time. Press the '88' icon again and use the arrow buttons to set the temperature for the 1st period. Repeat this process for periods 2, 3, and 4. Continue the same process to set the periods and temperatures for Tuesday through Sunday schedules. Press '88' once more to confirm and exit.
  • Checking the Temperature of Floor Sensor: Press and hold the '✓' icon for 5 seconds to display the temperature reading from the floor sensor.
  • Setting Functions and Options: When the power is off, press and hold the '88' icon for 3 seconds to access the system functions. Then, press '88' repeatedly to cycle through and change different item settings. All settings will be automatically confirmed when the power is turned back on.

  • Avoid Obstructions: Ensure that the thermostat is not covered by furniture, curtains, or other objects that could obstruct its sensors or airflow, which might affect temperature readings.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your thermostat, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Thermostat Not Turning On:
    • Check the main power supply to the thermostat. Ensure the circuit breaker is not tripped.
    • Verify that the wiring connections are secure and correctly installed according to the diagram.
  • Temperature Reading Appears Inaccurate:
    • Check the "Sensor type" setting (Code 4 in System Function Settings) to ensure the correct sensor (Internal, External, or Both) is selected for your setup.
    • Adjust the "Temperature compensation" setting (Code 1) if there's a consistent offset in temperature readings.
