7. User Tips

  • Optimal Placement: Experiment with the placement of the HUD unit and reflective film on your windshield to find the position that offers the clearest view without obstructing your line of sight.
  • Brightness Settings: While the automatic brightness works well, you can fine-tune it manually in the settings menu for personal comfort, especially during dawn or dusk.
  • Shift Reminder Customization: The default maximum gear for the shift reminder is 5. If your car has more gears, you can adjust this setting in menu No.16 to match your vehicle's actual gear configuration for more accurate reminders.
  • Unit Consistency: Ensure that the speed and other units displayed on the HUD match your vehicle's speedometer and your preferred measurement system (e.g., KM/H vs. MPH).

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Display/Power:
    • Check if the OBD cable is securely connected to both the HUD unit and the vehicle's OBDII port.
    • Ensure the vehicle's engine is running.
    • Verify that your vehicle is OBDII/EUOBD compliant (most cars after 2004 are).
  • Inaccurate Speed/RPM:
    • Access the settings menu to calibrate the speed or RPM values if they do not match your vehicle's dashboard. Refer to the user manual for specific calibration steps.
  • Engine Fault Alarm:
    • If an engine fault alarm appears, the HUD can display the fault code. Consult your vehicle's manual or a mechanic for the meaning of the code. The HUD also has a function to clear fault codes.
  • Double Image/Ghosting:
    • Ensure the reflective film is properly applied to the windshield. If not using the film, some windshields may naturally cause a double image due to their construction.
  • HUD Not Compatible with Vehicle:
    • The HUD's OBD2 working mode may not be compatible with certain vehicles, including almost 98% of cars before 2004, some old oil and electricity mixing cars, diesel-powered cars, pickups, SUVs, ORVs, and mini-buses. If you are unsure about compatibility, please contact VJOYCAR customer support.
