1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your SUNTEC oil pump. These gear pumps are designed for use with diesel oil and oil boiler systems, ensuring reliable pressure and flow for various applications. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and operation to ensure safe and efficient use.

2. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your SUNTEC oil pump. Refer to the diagrams and specifications below for correct mounting and connection.
2.1 Mounting
- Mounting: Flange or hub according to EN 225 standards.
- Connection Threads: Cylindrical according to ISO 228/1.
- Inlet/Outlet: G 1/4 (with facilities for coaxial suction on revision 6 models).
- Nozzle Outlet: G 1/8.
- Pressure Gauge Ports: G 1/8.
- Vacuum Gauge Port: G 1/8.
2.2 Pipe System Configuration
The pump can be configured for one-pipe or two-pipe systems. The by-pass plug is internal and used for the return port in two-pipe systems. For one-pipe systems, a pressure port must be opened to bleed the system.

3. Operating Instructions
The SUNTEC AN oil pump is a basic model incorporating a pressure regulating valve with cut-off. It is suitable for light oil, B10 heating oil/biofuel blend (as defined in DIN V51603-6) and kerosene.
3.1 Pump Operation Principle
The gear set draws oil from the tank through the built-in filter and transfers it to the nozzle line that regulates the oil pressure to the nozzle line. All oil which does not go through the nozzle line is by-passed through the valve back to the return line, in a two-pipe installation or, if it is a one-pipe installation, back to the suction port in the gear-set. In that case, the by-pass plug must be removed from the return port, and the return port sealed by a steel plug and washer.
The valve also has a cut-off function as follows:
- During starting period when the gear-set speed is increasing, all the oil passes through a special flat on the piston, back to the return. Once the speed reaches a certain value and the flow can no longer pass through this flat, then the pressure increases rapidly overcoming the valve spring force and opens the valve.
- During the stop sequence, the gear-set speed slows down and the valve closes when the gear-set capacity is lower than the flat flow.
- The cut-on and cut-off speeds depend on the gear-set size, and set pressure.
3.2 Bleeding the System
- Two-pipe operation: Bleeding is automatic. It can be accelerated by loosening the plug in a pressure gauge port.
- One-pipe operation: A pressure port must be opened to bleed the system.
4. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient performance of your oil pump.
- Strainer Inspection: The pump includes a strainer with an open area of 6 cm² (for AN 47/77K, 97/97K models) and an opening size of 150 µm. Periodically inspect and clean the strainer to prevent blockages and maintain optimal flow.
- Oil Temperature: Ensure the oil temperature in the pump remains within 0 - 60°C. Operating outside this range may affect pump performance and lifespan.
- Pressure Monitoring: Monitor inlet and return pressures to ensure they do not exceed 2 bars max.
- Suction Height: Maintain a suction height of 0.5 bars max vacuum to prevent air separation from the oil, which can lead to cavitation and reduced efficiency.
5. Troubleshooting
This section provides guidance for common issues you might encounter with your oil pump.
5.1 Air in the System
- If air is present in a two-pipe system, bleeding is automatic. To accelerate the process, you can temporarily loosen the plug in a pressure gauge port until air is expelled.
- For one-pipe systems, it is necessary to open a pressure port to bleed the system manually.
5.2 Reduced Flow or Pressure
- Check the strainer for blockages and clean if necessary.
- Verify that the oil temperature is within the recommended operating range (0 - 60°C).
- Inspect the inlet and return lines for any obstructions or leaks.
- Ensure the suction height is within specifications to prevent air separation.

- For optimal performance, ensure the pump is correctly installed for either a one-pipe or two-pipe system, and that the by-pass plug is configured appropriately.
- Regularly check for air in the system, especially after installation or maintenance. Prompt bleeding will prevent operational issues.
- If integrating this pump into a larger system like a "Master BV170E" diesel cannon, ensure all components (e.g., flame sensors, solenoids) are compatible and correctly installed for the entire system to function efficiently.
