Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to install your JEYI M.2 SSD Heatsink:

  1. Prepare the SSD: Gently peel off the protective film from one side of a thermal pad. Carefully place the thermal pad onto the top surface of your M.2 SSD, ensuring good coverage.
  2. Attach Heatsink Base: Place the SSD with the thermal pad into the heatsink's bottom piece.
  3. Secure the Top Cover: Place the heatsink's top cover over the SSD and bottom piece. Use the provided screws to secure the two halves together. The double-sided clip design and adjustable height screws ensure a stable installation.
  4. Insert into Slot: Carefully insert the assembled SSD and heatsink into the M.2 slot on your motherboard or PS5.

The heatsink's ultra-thin 7mm profile (total installation height 10mm) allows for installation in tight spaces, including under graphics cards and CPU coolers, and is compatible with PS5 M.2 NVME storage upgrades.

Operation

Once installed, the JEYI icold-007 heatsink operates passively to dissipate heat generated by your M.2 SSD. The aluminum alloy construction and striped design increase the heat dissipation area, effectively lowering the SSD's operating temperature by 10°C to 30°C, depending on environmental conditions and workload.

Maintenance

The JEYI icold-007 heatsink requires minimal maintenance. To ensure continued optimal performance:

  • Periodically inspect the heatsink for dust accumulation.

  • Avoid touching the thermal pads directly, as oils from your skin can reduce their effectiveness.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions:

SSD Overheating After Installation:

  • Check Thermal Pad Contact: Ensure the thermal pads are correctly applied and make full contact with both the SSD and the heatsink surfaces.
  • Verify Heatsink Assembly: Confirm that the heatsink halves are securely fastened with all screws, providing even pressure on the SSD.
  • Environmental Factors: Ensure adequate airflow within your PC case or PS5. High ambient temperatures can reduce cooling efficiency.

Heatsink Does Not Fit:

  • SSD Length: Confirm your M.2 SSD is 2280mm in length. This heatsink is designed specifically for 2280 SSDs.
  • Clearance: Check for obstructions in your PC case or PS5 M.2 slot, such as other components or tight clearances. The heatsink has a 10mm total installation height.

User Tips

  • When applying thermal pads, ensure the surface of the SSD is clean and free of dust or debris for maximum thermal transfer.
  • For optimal cooling, consider the overall airflow in your system. Better case ventilation can further enhance the heatsink's performance.
  • The included screwdriver and extra screws are useful, keep them in a safe place for future maintenance or reinstallation.
