3. Setup
3.1 Charging the Device
The KPM-11M features a built-in Lithium battery and supports USB charging. Connect the device to a standard USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, power bank, computer USB port) using a compatible USB cable. The charging indicator on the device will show its status.

3.2 Attaching Fiber Optic Connectors
The KPM-11M comes with a 2.5mm universal interface, compatible with SC, FC, and ST connectors. An optional 1.25mm LC adapter is also available for LC connections.
- Ensure the fiber optic connector and the power meter's port are clean. Use appropriate fiber cleaning tools if necessary.
- Carefully insert the fiber optic connector (SC, FC, ST, or LC with adapter) into the optical port at the top of the KPM-11M until it is securely seated.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off
Press the green power button (ON/OFF) to turn the device on. Press and hold the red power button to turn it off.
4.2 Wavelength Selection
The KPM-11M supports 7 standard wavelengths. To switch between wavelengths, press the 'lambda' button (λ). The selected wavelength will be displayed on the screen.

4.3 Optical Power Measurement
- Power on the device.
- Select the desired wavelength using the 'lambda' button.
- Connect the fiber optic cable to the optical port.
- The measured optical power (in dBm) will be displayed on the screen.

4.4 LED Light Operation
To activate the built-in LED light, press the dedicated LED light button (often integrated with the power button or a separate button with a light icon). This feature is useful for working in dimly lit environments.

4.5 User Self-Calibration
The KPM-11M allows users to manually calibrate the device for optimal accuracy:
- Press and hold both the green power button and the 'REF/dB' button simultaneously until "REF" appears on the screen, indicating entry into calibration mode.
- Use the 'REF/dB' button to decrease the reference value and the 'lambda' button to increase it.
- Once the desired calibration value is set, press the LED Light button to save the values and exit the calibration procedure.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Optical Connector
Regular cleaning of the optical connector interface is crucial for accurate measurements and to prevent damage to the device. Use only approved fiber optic cleaning tools and methods. Never use abrasive materials or solvents that could damage the optical components.
5.2 Battery Care
To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the device frequently. Charge the device regularly, especially if it will be stored for an extended period. Store the device in a cool, dry place.
5.3 General Care
Keep the device free from dust, dirt, and moisture. Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to strong impacts. When not in use, store the device in its protective casing.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Inaccurate Readings
- Dirty Connectors: Ensure all fiber optic connectors and the power meter's input port are clean.
- Incorrect Wavelength: Verify that the correct wavelength is selected on the device for the fiber being tested.
- Calibration Issue: Perform a user self-calibration as described in Section 4.5.
- Damaged Fiber: Inspect the fiber optic cable for any physical damage.
6.2 Device Not Powering On
- Low Battery: Connect the device to a USB charger and allow it to charge for some time before attempting to power it on again.
- Faulty Cable/Charger: Try using a different USB cable and charger to rule out external issues.
6.3 LED Light Not Working
- Low Battery: The LED light may not function if the battery is critically low. Charge the device.
- Device Malfunction: If charging does not resolve the issue, contact support.
