  5. Secure the PTT Unit: Use the sturdy metal clip on the PTT (Push-to-Talk) unit to attach it to your shirt collar, lapel, or other convenient clothing. This ensures easy access for transmission.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Push-to-Talk (PTT) Mode

To transmit your voice, press and hold the PTT button located on the inline unit. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button when you are finished speaking to return to receive mode.

4.2. Voice Operated Exchange (VOX) Mode

If your two-way radio supports VOX functionality, you can enable it through your radio's settings. When VOX is active, the earpiece's microphone will automatically detect your voice and initiate transmission without the need to press the PTT button. Adjust the VOX sensitivity on your radio to prevent accidental transmissions or missed voice activation.

4.3. Volume Adjustment

Adjust the volume directly on your two-way radio to achieve a comfortable listening level through the earpiece.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe the earpiece, cable, and PTT unit with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the materials.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the earpiece in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid tangling the coiled cable to maintain its flexibility and prevent damage.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the cable for any signs of wear, cuts, or fraying, especially near the connectors and the PTT unit.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Audio or Poor Audio Quality:
    • Ensure the 2-pin connector is fully and securely inserted into the radio's port.
    • Check the radio's volume level and increase it if necessary.
    • Verify that the earpiece speaker is positioned correctly in your ear.
    • Inspect the cable for any visible damage.
  • Microphone Not Transmitting:
    • If in PTT mode, ensure the PTT button is pressed firmly while speaking.
    • If using VOX, check your radio's VOX settings and sensitivity.
    • Confirm the 2-pin connector is properly connected to the radio.
  • Intermittent Connection:
    • Remove and re-insert the 2-pin connector to ensure a solid connection.
    • Check for any debris in the radio's connector port.
