1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your Scimagic-RC Hormann 868MHz Compatible Remote Control Duplicator. This device is designed to copy the signal from existing Hormann garage door and gate remote controls operating at 868MHz, specifically those with blue buttons.

Important Compatibility Note: This duplicator is compatible with Hormann 868MHz remotes with blue buttons. It is NOT compatible with Hormann BiSecur (BS) series remotes or remotes with other button colors (grey, green, yellow, orange, black) or different frequencies (e.g., 26.995 MHz, 30 MHz, 433.92 MHz).

4. Setup and Programming

The duplicator uses a self-copy programming method. The entire cloning process typically takes about fifteen seconds.

4.1. Step 1: Clear Existing Code

  1. Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the duplicator simultaneously.
  2. The LED indicator will flash 3 times and then turn off.
  3. While still holding the LOCK button, release the UNLOCK button.
  4. Press the UNLOCK button 3 times.
  5. The duplicator's LED indicator will flash quickly, indicating that the existing code has been successfully removed.

You are now ready to proceed to the copying step.

4.2. Step 2: Copy Original Remote

  1. Place your original Hormann remote control and the duplicator as close to each other as possible.
  2. Press and hold one button on your original remote and the corresponding button on the duplicator simultaneously.
  3. The LED indicator on the duplicator will flash rapidly, signifying that the original remote's code has been successfully copied.

Repeat this process for any other buttons you wish to program.

5. Operation

Once programmed, simply press the desired button on your new duplicator remote control to operate your garage door opener or gate system, just as you would with your original remote.

6. Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: When the remote's range decreases or the LED indicator becomes dim, it's time to replace the battery.
    • Hormann Style (Grey): Requires a 12V 23A battery.
    • SMG-012HORMANN Style (Black + Silver): Requires a 3V battery (specific type not detailed, typically CR2032 or similar coin cell).
  • Cleaning: Wipe the remote with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the remote in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Water Exposure: Avoid exposing the remote to water or high humidity, as this can damage internal components.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Remote not working after programming:
    • Ensure your original remote is functioning correctly.
    • Verify that the code clearing process (Step 1) was completed successfully, indicated by the rapid LED flash.
    • Make sure the original remote and the duplicator were placed very close to each other during the copying process (Step 2).
    • Check the battery in the duplicator. A weak battery can prevent successful programming or operation.
  • Compatibility Issues:
    • This duplicator is ONLY compatible with Hormann 868MHz remotes that have blue buttons.
    • It is NOT compatible with Hormann BiSecur (BS) series remotes.
    • It is NOT compatible with Hormann remotes operating at other frequencies (e.g., 26.995 MHz, 30 MHz, 433.92 MHz). The frequency must be exactly 868MHz (or 868.3MHz, 868.35MHz).
    • Remotes with other button colors (grey, green, yellow, orange, black) are generally not compatible.
  • Short Transmission Range:
    • Replace the battery in the duplicator.
    • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the receiver.
