1. Introduction

The SINOTIMER TM822 is a versatile 2-channel digital programmable timer switch designed for automatic control of various electrical equipment. It allows you to set precise ON/OFF times over a 7-day period, with programming intervals as short as 1 second and a range up to 168 hours. This timer is ideal for applications such as streetlights, neon signs, lamps, water heaters, air conditioners, billboards, and agricultural facilities.

The device features low power consumption, a high-accuracy CMOS chip, strong anti-jamming capabilities, and is simple to set up and operate. It complies with IEC 60367 and holds CE, RoHS, EMC, LVD, and UKCA certifications.

5. Installation

WARNING: Installation should only be performed by a qualified electrician. Ensure power is disconnected before installation to prevent electric shock.

5.1 Mounting

The TM822 timer switch can be installed either panel-mounted or using screws. The provided bracket facilitates panel mounting.

5.2 Wiring Diagram

Connect the timer according to the appropriate wiring diagram for your model (AC or DC voltage). The TM822 features two independent relay outputs (CH1 and CH2).

6. Initial Setup and Programming

Before programming, ensure the timer is powered on. The display will show the current time and day.

6.1 Unlocking the Timer

To prevent accidental changes, the timer may be locked. To unlock:

  1. Press and hold the MENU button for approximately 3 seconds.
  2. The 'LOCK ON' indicator on the display will disappear, indicating the timer is unlocked.

6.2 Setting Current Time and Day

To set the current time and day:

  1. Ensure the timer is unlocked.
  2. Press the OK button. The hour display will start flashing.
  3. Use the (Up) and (Down) buttons to adjust the hour.
  4. Press OK again to confirm the hour and move to minutes.
  5. Use the and buttons to adjust the minutes.
  6. Press OK again to confirm the minutes and move to the day of the week.
  7. Use the and buttons to select the current day (e.g., Su for Sunday, Mo for Monday).
  8. Press OK to save the current time and day settings.

6.3 Programming ON/OFF Cycles

The TM822 allows for 8 ON/OFF programs per day. Each program can be set for a specific time and day(s) of the week.

  1. Press the MENU button to enter programming mode. The display will show '1 ON'.
  2. Use the and buttons to set the desired ON time (hour and minute) for the first program.
  3. Press OK to confirm the ON time.
  4. The display will now show '1 OFF'. Use the and buttons to set the desired OFF time (hour and minute) for the first program.
  5. Press OK to confirm the OFF time.
  6. The display will then show the day selection. Use the and buttons to select the day(s) for this program (e.g., individual days, weekdays, weekends, all days).
  7. Press OK to save the first program.
  8. Repeat steps 1-7 for additional programs (up to 8 ON/OFF pairs).
  9. To exit programming mode, press the MENU button repeatedly until the current time is displayed, or wait for a few seconds for it to automatically return.

7. Operation

7.1 Switching Modes (ON/ON AUTO/OFF/AUTO OFF)

The timer has different operating modes for manual override or automatic control:

  1. Ensure the timer is unlocked.
  2. Press the MENU button and the (Up) button simultaneously to cycle through the modes:
    • ON: The output is continuously ON, overriding any programmed OFF times.
    • ON AUTO: The output is currently ON, but will follow the next programmed OFF time.
    • OFF: The output is continuously OFF, overriding any programmed ON times.
    • OFF AUTO: The output is currently OFF, but will follow the next programmed ON time.
  3. Select the desired mode based on your operational needs.

7.2 Selecting Channels (F1 or F2)

The TM822 has two independent channels. To select which channel you are programming or viewing:

  1. Press the Res button.
  2. The display will show 'F1' or 'F2', indicating the currently selected channel.
  3. Toggle between F1 and F2 by pressing the Res button.

8. Maintenance

  • Keep the timer clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • The internal 3V CR2026 backup battery is not user-replaceable and is designed for long-term use. If the timer loses settings frequently during power outages, the battery may need professional servicing.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Independent Channels: The two relay outputs (CH1 and CH2) operate independently. This means you can program different schedules for each channel to control separate devices or circuits.
