1. Introduction

The R7C Colorful Screen WIFI Intelligent Digital Underfloor Heating Temperature Controller is designed for precise room and household temperature control within floor heating systems. It optimizes comfort and energy efficiency by regulating heating equipment based on ambient and set temperatures. This series includes models for electric floor heating, water heating, and gas boiler systems, offering versatile solutions for various heating needs. The thermostat features a 2.8-inch large colorful LCD screen for a delicate visual effect and supports quick Wi-Fi configuration via BLE technology.

2. Safety Information

5. Setup and Installation

5.1 Physical Installation

The thermostat adopt pre-guide and limited snap-fit design. It is easy to mount.

  1. Release the front cover by inserting a head screwdriver into the bottom crack.
  2. Insert the wires and then fix them with screws. Suggested wire-stripping length is 7-9mm.
  3. Mount the backing plate into the wall-cassette, put screws and then fix the thermostat. Make sure that the thermostat is fixed without deformation. Suggested torque is 0.2~0.4N.m (2.0~4.1kgf.cm).
  4. Re-mount the front cover via snap-fit connection.

5.2 Wiring Diagrams

The thermostat operates in full capacity in areas with the altitude of less than 2500m above sea level. The power rating of the external load should be less than or equal to 80% of the rated power of the thermostat in areas with an altitude of 2500m to 4200m.

  • R7C.716 (16A Electric Floor Heating): Used to control heating cables, mats, or films for electric floor heating systems.
  • R7C.703 (3A Water Underfloor Heating): Used to control valves, normally closed actuators, or normally open actuators for water floor heating systems.
  • R7C.723 (3A Water/Gas Boiler Heating): Used to control gas boilers, electric boilers, or heat pumps connected via "Dry Connect".

5.3 Wi-Fi Setup

To connect your thermostat to Wi-Fi:

  1. Press and hold the "Menu" button (usually represented by a square grid icon) for 3 seconds to enter the menu page.
  2. Rotate the knob to select "Wi-Fi setting".
  3. Choose "Bluetooth Mode" (recommended for quick connection).
  4. Press the knob to confirm. The device will enter the distribution network state.
  5. Follow the instructions in the Smart Life or TuyaSmart app on your smartphone to complete the connection.

6. Operation

6.1 Display Symbols

  • Time Display: Shows current time.
  • Date Week: Shows current date and day of the week.
  • Outdoor Temp.: Displays outdoor temperature (when networked).
  • Outdoor Humidity: Displays outdoor humidity (when networked).
  • Fan Coil Valve: Indicates fan coil valve status.
  • Floor Heating Valve: Indicates floor heating valve status.
  • (next) Mode: Indicates the next scheduled mode.
  • Child-lock Mode: Indicates child lock is active.
  • Frost Protection: Indicates frost protection is active.
  • Wi-Fi: Indicates Wi-Fi connection status.
  • Room Humidity: Displays room humidity.
  • Room Temp.: Displays current room temperature.
  • Working Mode: Indicates current operating mode (e.g., heating, cooling).
  • Fan: Indicates fan operation.
  • Auto Mode: Indicates automatic scheduling mode.
  • Manual Mode: Indicates manual temperature control mode.

6.2 User Operation

  • Power On/Off: Press and hold the "Power" button (usually the knob) for 3 seconds to turn the thermostat on or off.
  • Temperature Setting: Rotate the handwheel knob to change the setting temperature by 0.5°C increments.
  • System Mode (Floor Heating): Press the "Menu" button (square grid icon) shortly to switch between manual and auto mode.
  • System Mode (Fan Coil): Press the "Menu" button shortly to switch between cooling, heating, and ventilation.
  • System Mode (Integrated): Press the "Menu" button shortly to switch between cooling, heating, ventilation, floor heating, and integrated heating modes.
  • Enter Menu: Press and hold the "Menu" button for 3 seconds to enter the menu interface.
  • Temp Control Mode (Integrated, Floor Heating): Press the "Mode" button (leaf icon) shortly to switch between manual and auto mode.
  • Child-lock: Press and hold the "Child-lock" button (two squares icon) for 3 seconds to activate or deactivate child-lock.

6.3 Auto-mode Setting (Weekly Programming)

The weekly-programmable thermostat allows up to 6 heating events to be set per day. Heating events, workdays, and temperature can be customized separately based on personal routines.

  1. While powered on, long press the "Menu" button to enter the menu page.
  2. Choose "Auto Mode", then select "Weekly Programming".
  3. Set the period parameters (time and temperature for each event).
  4. Press the "Menu" button to save and exit.

6.4 Manual and Temporary Modes

  • Manual Mode: The thermostat operates based on a manually set temperature, disconnecting from the auto mode schedule.
  • Temporary Mode: The thermostat operates based on a manually set temperature temporarily and then shifts back to auto mode until the next scheduled event.

6.5 APP Remote Control

Control your thermostat from anywhere using the Smart Life or TuyaSmart app on your smartphone or tablet. Ensure your thermostat is connected to Wi-Fi.

6.6 Voice Control

The thermostat is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Simply use voice commands to adjust settings (e.g., "Alexa, set the thermostat to 22 degrees Celsius").

6.7 Weather and Humidity Display

When connected to Wi-Fi, the thermostat can display local outdoor temperature and humidity, as well as room humidity, directly on its screen and via the mobile app. This feature helps in monitoring indoor air quality and comfort levels.

7. Advanced Settings (For Professional Technicians)

These settings are intended for professional technicians. Incorrect configuration may lead to system malfunction. Access with caution.

  1. While powered on, long press the "Menu" button (square grid icon) to enter the menu page.
  2. Choose "Engineer Mode".
  3. Enter password "123456" to access the advanced setting page.
  4. After adjusting parameters, press the "Menu" button to save and exit.

The advanced settings include parameters such as ModBus Address, Sensor Calibration, Temperature Differential, Max/Min Setting Values, Anti-Freeze Protection, Temperature Unit, Sensor Mode, Floor Limited Value, Weekday Mode, Linkage Mode, Linkage Time Delay, Child-lock Type, Boot Type, Room Card settings, and Air-Condition Mode. Refer to the detailed table in the PDF manual for specific values and functions.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 Sensor Failure

If the thermostat displays an E0 or E1 error, it indicates a sensor issue. The thermostat will remain powered off until the error is resolved.

  • E0 Error: Built-in sensor is short-circuited or disconnected.
  • E1 Error: Floor sensor is short-circuited or disconnected.

Action: Check the sensor connections and ensure they are correctly installed and not damaged. Replace the sensor if necessary.

8.2 General Issues

  • Thermostat not responding: Check power supply. Ensure the device is properly installed and wired.
  • Incorrect temperature readings: Verify sensor placement and ensure it's not obstructed or exposed to direct drafts/heat sources. Calibrate the sensor in advanced settings if needed (professional technician recommended).
  • Wi-Fi connection issues: Ensure your Wi-Fi network is active and the thermostat is within range. Re-attempt Wi-Fi setup via Bluetooth mode in the app.
  • App control not working: Check if the thermostat is connected to Wi-Fi and the app is updated. Ensure the app is correctly linked to your Tuya/Smart Life account.

9. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the thermostat screen and body with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Firmware Updates: Regularly check the Smart Life or TuyaSmart app for available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and new features.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect wiring connections for any signs of wear or damage. (Professional inspection recommended).

10. User Tips

  • For optimal energy saving, utilize the weekly programming feature to match your daily routine.
  • Take advantage of the voice control feature for quick and convenient temperature adjustments.
  • Monitor the outdoor temperature and humidity display to better understand environmental conditions and adjust your heating strategy accordingly.
  • If you experience connectivity issues, try restarting your home router and then re-pairing the thermostat via the app's Bluetooth mode.
