4. Setup

4.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
  2. Open the battery cover.
  3. Insert two (2) 1.5V AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery cover securely.

4.2. Calibration

For accurate measurements, it is crucial to perform calibration. The HW300PRO supports Zero Calibration and Multi-point Calibration.

  1. Zero Calibration: Place the meter's probe directly onto the bare standard aluminum base sheet. Follow the on-screen prompts or refer to the manual for specific button presses to perform zero calibration.
  2. Multi-point Calibration: Use the provided calibration films of known thicknesses (0.05mm, 0.10mm, 0.25mm, 0.50mm, 1.00mm, 2.00mm) on the standard aluminum base sheet. Measure each film and adjust the meter if necessary according to the manual's instructions to match the known thickness.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the meter in a dry, dust-free environment away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
  • Battery Replacement: When the low power indicator (5) appears on the display, replace both 1.5V AAA batteries promptly to ensure accurate readings and proper device function.
  • Probe Care: Keep the probe clean and free from debris. Avoid scratching or damaging the probe surface, as this can affect measurement accuracy.

7. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Device does not turn on Dead or incorrectly installed batteries Replace batteries with new 1.5V AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
Inaccurate readings Needs calibration; dirty probe; incorrect measurement technique Perform zero and multi-point calibration. Clean the probe. Ensure the probe is placed perpendicularly and gently on the surface.
Low power indicator displayed Batteries are running low Replace both 1.5V AAA batteries.
Display is dim or flickering Low battery power Replace both 1.5V AAA batteries.

8. User Tips

  • Regular Calibration: To maintain the highest accuracy, especially for critical measurements, perform a zero calibration before each use or at least daily. If you notice inconsistent readings, recalibrate the device.
  • Stable Placement: Always ensure the probe is placed firmly and perpendicularly on the surface being measured. Any wobbling or angled placement can lead to inaccurate results.
  • Surface Preparation: For best results, ensure the measurement surface is clean and free of dust, dirt, or moisture.
