4. Setup

4.1. Charging the Device

The T16 detector is equipped with a built-in 1200mAh polymer lithium battery. Before first use, ensure the device is fully charged.

  1. Connect the provided USB cable to the charging port on the detector.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a DC5V/1A power adapter (not included) or a compatible USB power source.
  3. The LED indicator will show charging status. Once fully charged, the indicator may change color or turn off.

A full charge provides approximately 48 consecutive hours of operation.

4.2. Powering On/Off

Press and hold the Power Button (usually marked with a power symbol) to turn the device on or off.

5. Operating Instructions

The T16 detector offers multiple detection modes to identify various surveillance devices.

5.1. RF Signal Detection (Wireless Bugs & Cameras)

This mode is used to detect active RF error transmitters, such as wireless cameras, GPS trackers, and wireless audio bugs.

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Select the RF detection mode using the function keys.
  3. Adjust the sensitivity using the 4-speed sensitivity adjustment feature. Start with lower sensitivity and gradually increase it to pinpoint the source.
  4. Slowly scan the area. The detection dial/indicator will react to RF signals, with stronger signals indicating closer proximity to a device.
  5. Investigate areas with strong signal indications for hidden wireless devices.

5.2. Camera Lens Detection (Pinhole & Hidden Cameras)

This mode uses infrared laser scanning to find hidden camera lenses, even if the camera is not actively transmitting a signal.

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Select the camera lens detection mode (often indicated by an eye or camera icon). This will activate the searchlight.
  3. Look through the special dedicated optical filter on the detector.
  4. Slowly scan the area, paying close attention to objects, walls, and furniture. Hidden camera lenses will appear as bright red dots when illuminated by the detector's searchlight and viewed through the filter.
  5. The laser detection distance is 10 to 15 centimeters for optimal results.

5.3. Magnetic Field Detection (GPS Trackers)

This mode helps locate magnetized GPS trackers that may be covertly attached to vehicles or other metal surfaces.

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Select the magnetic field detection mode.
  3. Slowly move the detector close to surfaces where a magnetic tracker might be hidden, such as under a car, inside wheel wells, or on metal furniture.
  4. The device will indicate the presence of a magnetic field, typically through an audible alarm or visual indicator.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the detector in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: For optimal battery life, charge the device regularly, even if not in frequent use. Avoid fully discharging the battery for extended periods.
  • Handle with Care: The device contains sensitive electronic components. Avoid dropping or subjecting it to strong impacts.

7. Troubleshooting

Device does not power on:
Ensure the device is fully charged. If the battery is low, connect it to a power source using the USB cable.
No signal detected:
Increase the sensitivity setting. Ensure you are in the correct detection mode for the type of device you are searching for. Move closer to the suspected area.
False alarms/High interference:
Reduce the sensitivity setting. Move away from known sources of strong electromagnetic interference (e.g., Wi-Fi routers, mobile phones, microwaves).
Camera lens not visible:
Ensure you are looking through the optical filter and the searchlight is active. Scan slowly and thoroughly, maintaining a close distance (10-15 cm) to surfaces.

9. User Tips

  • For best results in RF detection, turn off all known wireless devices (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mobile phones) in the immediate vicinity to minimize interference.
  • When searching for hidden cameras, darken the room as much as possible to make the red reflections from the camera lens more visible through the filter.
  • Regularly scan your vehicle, especially after servicing or if you suspect unauthorized tracking, using both RF and magnetic detection modes.
  • Always perform a quick scan of new environments like hotel rooms or changing rooms to ensure privacy.
