5.3 Multimeter Mode
Switch to Multimeter mode using the 'Mode' button. Connect the multimeter leads to the appropriate input jacks (mA, COM, VΩ+C) and select the desired measurement function (e.g., Voltage, Current, Resistance, Capacitance, Diode, Continuity Test) using the function buttons.
5.4 Waveform Generator Mode (S models only)
For models with a waveform generator (HDS2202S, HDS2102S), switch to Waveform Generator mode. Use the controls to select the waveform type (Sine, Square, Ramp, Pulse, Arbitrary), frequency, and amplitude. Connect the BNC to Alligator Clip cable to the GEN Out connector to output the signal.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure no liquids enter the device openings.
6.2 Battery Care
The device uses an internal 18650 lithium battery. For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently and store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods. Recharge the battery periodically if stored for a long time.
6.3 Self-Calibration
The device features a self-calibration function to maintain measurement accuracy. Refer to the on-screen menu (usually under 'System' settings) for instructions on how to perform a self-calibration.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1 Timebase Discrepancy
Some users have reported that the 2ns/div horizontal timebase setting may not accurately represent 2ns/div, potentially displaying waveforms as if it were 2.5ns/div. If precise timing is critical at this setting, it is recommended to verify measurements using the cursor tools or use other timebase settings where accuracy is confirmed. OWON may release a firmware update to address this issue.

9. User Tips
- Timebase Accuracy: Be aware that the 2ns/div setting on some HDS2102S units may actually represent 2.5ns/div due to a potential firmware bug. For critical timing measurements at this setting, it is recommended to verify results using the cursor tools or select alternative timebase ranges.
- CAN Bus Analysis: While the device does not feature dedicated CAN bus protocol decoding, it can effectively display CAN bus activity waveforms, allowing for visual analysis of the signal.
- Outdoor Portability: The compact design and long-lasting 18650 lithium battery (providing over 4 hours of operation) make this device highly suitable for outdoor maintenance and on-site measurements.
- PC Software Connection: Utilize the USB Type-C interface to connect the oscilloscope to a PC. This allows for data transfer, remote control, and secondary development through SCPI commands.
