5. Setup and Installation

5.1. Mounting the SDS200 DRO Display

  1. Select a suitable location on your machine for the DRO display, ensuring it is easily visible and accessible.
  2. Use the provided mounting bracket and screws to securely attach the display unit.

5.2. Installing KA-300 Linear Scales

  1. Identify the appropriate travel length (L0) for each axis of your machine. Refer to Figure 4.2 for available lengths and dimensions.
  2. Mount the KA-300 linear scales to the respective axes of your machine using the provided mounting brackets and screws. Ensure the scale is parallel to the axis of motion and the reading head moves freely along the scale.
  3. Before use, remove the red fix holder from the reading head of each linear scale. This holder protects the reading head during transit.

7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and accuracy of your SINO DRO system, follow these general maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Keep the DRO display and linear scales clean and free from dust, chips, and coolant. Use a soft, dry cloth for the display. For scales, use a clean, lint-free cloth and a mild cleaning solution if necessary, ensuring no liquid enters the reading head.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect cables for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure all connections are secure.
  • Scale Protection: The KA-300 scales have an IP55 protection level, making them resistant to dust and splashes. However, avoid direct exposure to excessive liquids or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the system in a clean, dry environment.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your SINO DRO system, consider the following basic troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power: Check the power cable connection to both the DRO unit and the power outlet. Ensure the power switch on the rear of the unit is in the 'ON' position.
  • No Reading/Incorrect Reading:
    • Verify that all linear scale DB9 connectors are securely plugged into the correct axis ports on the DRO.
    • Ensure the reading head moves smoothly along the scale and is not obstructed.
    • Check for any visible damage to the linear scale or cable.
    • Confirm that the fix holder has been removed from the reading head.
  • Display Errors: If the display shows unusual characters or errors, try restarting the unit. If the problem persists, consult the detailed SDS200 user manual for specific error codes and solutions.

For persistent issues or complex problems, please contact SINO technical support.

9. User Tips

  • Scale Length Selection: When acquiring replacement scales or expanding your system, always ensure you select the correct effective measuring length (L0) for your machine's travel requirements. Refer to the KA-300 specifications and diagrams for precise measurements.
  • Cable Management: Properly route and secure the scale cables to prevent snagging, pinching, or damage during machine operation.
  • Calibration: Periodically check the accuracy of your DRO system against known standards to ensure continued precision, especially after significant machine adjustments or maintenance.
