5. Setup and Installation

Replacing TV backlight strips requires technical expertise and careful handling of electronic components. It is highly recommended that this procedure be performed by a qualified technician. Improper installation can lead to damage to the TV or personal injury.

5.1 Safety Precautions:

  • Always unplug the TV from the power outlet before beginning any disassembly or repair work.
  • Discharge any residual power by pressing the power button for a few seconds after unplugging.
  • Wear anti-static gloves to prevent damage to sensitive electronic components.
  • Work in a clean, well-lit area.
  • Keep track of all screws and components during disassembly.

5.2 Installation Steps (General Guide):

  1. Disassemble the TV: Carefully remove the TV back cover, stand, and any internal shields or components necessary to access the display panel.
  2. Remove the Display Panel: Extreme caution is required when removing the LCD/LED display panel. It is fragile and can easily crack. Place it on a soft, clean surface.
  3. Access the Backlight Assembly: Once the display panel is removed, you will gain access to the diffuser sheets and the backlight assembly. Carefully remove these layers.
  4. Remove Old Backlight Strips: Disconnect the power connectors from the old backlight strips. If adhesive was used, gently pry them off. Note their exact placement.
  5. Install New Backlight Strips:
    • Match the new strips (JS-D-JP43DM-A81EC and JS-D-JP43DM-B82EC) to the positions of the old ones.
    • Since these strips do not come with pre-applied adhesive, you will need to apply suitable thermal adhesive tape (not included) to secure them firmly in place. Ensure good contact for heat dissipation.
    • Connect the power cables to the new strips, ensuring correct polarity.
  6. Test the Backlights: Before reassembling the entire TV, temporarily connect the power supply and turn on the TV to verify that all new backlight LEDs illuminate correctly and evenly.
  7. Reassemble the TV: Carefully reassemble the diffuser sheets, display panel, and all other components in reverse order of disassembly. Ensure all connectors are securely fastened and no cables are pinched.

6. Operating Instructions

Once correctly installed, the LED backlight strips operate automatically as part of your television's display system. No special operating procedures are required for the backlight strips themselves. The TV will function as normal, with restored illumination.

7. Maintenance and Care

These LED backlight strips are designed for long-term, maintenance-free operation once installed. To ensure their longevity:

  • Avoid exposing the TV to extreme temperatures or humidity.
  • Ensure proper ventilation for the TV to prevent overheating, which can degrade LED performance.
  • Do not attempt to clean the backlight strips directly once installed. Clean the TV screen and exterior according to the TV manufacturer's instructions.
  • Avoid physical impact to the TV screen, as this can damage the internal components, including the backlight strips.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues after installing the new backlight strips, consider the following common problems and solutions:

8.1 No Backlight / Dim Screen:

  • Check Connections: Ensure all power connectors to the backlight strips are securely and correctly attached.
  • Verify Polarity: Double-check that the strips are connected with the correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
  • Inspect for Damage: Carefully re-examine the strips for any visible damage (e.g., bent LEDs, broken circuits) that might have occurred during installation.
  • Power Supply Issue: The TV's power supply board might be faulty and unable to provide sufficient power to the backlights. This would require further diagnosis by a technician.

8.2 Uneven Brightness / Dark Spots:

  • Diffuser Alignment: Ensure that all diffuser sheets and lenses are correctly seated and aligned over the LED strips. Misalignment can cause uneven light distribution.
  • Faulty LED: A single faulty LED on a strip can sometimes cause a dark spot. If testing revealed all LEDs working, this is less likely but possible.

8.3 TV Not Turning On After Installation:

  • Recheck All Connections: Ensure all internal cables (LVDS, power, control boards) are properly reconnected.
  • Static Discharge: Static electricity during installation might have damaged other sensitive components.

If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, it is recommended to seek assistance from a professional TV repair technician.

9. User Tips

  • Verify Part Numbers Twice: Before ordering and especially before installation, always double-check the part numbers on your original strips against the product description and the strips received. Even slight variations can lead to incompatibility.
  • Document Disassembly: Take photos or videos during the disassembly process. This can be invaluable when reassembling the TV, especially for remembering screw locations and cable routing.
  • Handle with Care: The display panel and internal components are extremely delicate. Handle them gently and avoid applying pressure.

10. Warranty and Support

For any questions regarding the product, technical support, or warranty claims, please contact the seller directly through the platform where the purchase was made. Please have your order number and product details ready when contacting support.
