Instruction Manual

1. Introduction

The JJC TPR Series Pan Bar Remote Control Controller is designed to provide enhanced camera control for videographers and photographers. This versatile controller integrates seamlessly with compatible Sony cameras and camcorders, offering convenient and flexible operation. The series includes two models: TPR-M1 and TPR-U1, each tailored for specific mounting and compatibility needs.

The TPR-M1 model is specifically designed to replace standard Manfrotto rosette-mounted pan-handles, working with Manfrotto Video Heads that feature a 35mm thread diameter, an M6 screw hole, and 36 ridges. The TPR-U1 model is designed for broader compatibility, fitting most tripods with a handle diameter between 0.4" and 1.4".

Both models allow you to control your camera via a cable connected to its Multi or LANC terminal, eliminating the need to interact directly with camera buttons and reducing camera shake during critical moments.

5. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your JJC Pan Bar Remote Control Controller:

  1. Attach the Pan Bar to your Tripod:
    • For TPR-M1: Align the pan bar with the rosette mount on your compatible Manfrotto video head and secure it firmly. The pan bar can be rotated and positioned at any 10-degree interval for your preferred angle, designed to avoid slippage or accidental loosening.
    • For TPR-U1: Attach the pan bar clamp to your tripod handle. Ensure the handle diameter is within 0.4"-1.4" for a secure fit. Tighten the clamp securely. The silicone padded inside the clamp helps protect your handle from scratching.

7. User Tips

  • Always ensure your camera/camcorder is listed in the compatibility section to guarantee full functionality.
  • When using the zooming function with mirrorless cameras, confirm that you are using a power zoom lens for the feature to work correctly.
  • For optimal stability during still photography, consider detaching the controller from the pan bar to minimize any potential camera shake.
  • Utilize the included lanyard to prevent accidental loss of the controller when using it detached.
  • The storage pouch is ideal for protecting your controller and cables during transport.

8. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your JJC Pan Bar Remote Control Controller, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the controller. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the controller in the provided storage pouch to protect it from dust, moisture, and physical damage. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Cable Care: Handle the connecting cables with care. Avoid sharp bends, kinks, or excessive pulling, which can damage the internal wires. Always grasp the plug, not the cable, when connecting or disconnecting.
  • Environmental Protection: Protect the controller from water, sand, and excessive humidity. If it accidentally gets wet, power it off immediately and allow it to dry completely before attempting to use it again.

9. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your JJC Pan Bar Remote Control Controller, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Controller Not Responding:
    • Ensure the connecting cable is securely plugged into both the camera/camcorder and the controller.
    • Verify that your camera/camcorder is powered on and in the correct mode for remote control.
    • Check the camera's settings to ensure external remote control is enabled, if applicable.
    • Try using a different connecting cable if available, to rule out a faulty cable.
  • Zoom Function Not Working:
    • For mirrorless cameras, confirm that you are using a power zoom lens. The remote's zoom function is not compatible with manual zoom lenses on these cameras.
    • Ensure the camera's zoom settings are configured correctly.
  • Intermittent Connection:
    • Inspect the connecting cables for any visible damage or fraying.
    • Ensure the ports on both the camera/camcorder and the controller are clean and free of debris.
  • Physical Attachment Issues (TPR-U1):
    • If the TPR-U1 is not securely attaching to your tripod handle, verify that the handle's diameter is within the specified range of 0.4"-1.4".
    • Ensure the clamp is tightened sufficiently but not excessively, to avoid damage.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, please contact customer support for further assistance.
