Please observe the following safety precautions during installation and operation:
- Ensure all power is disconnected before performing any installation, maintenance, or repair work.
- Do not connect two switches to one motor.
- Do not connect one switch to two motors.
- Do not immerse the motor in water or expose it to excessive moisture.
- Avoid physical impact or hitting the motor.
- Do not drill into the motor body, especially the motor part itself.
- When installing the crown, fix it with 5 short rivets. Do not pierce the steel ring inside the crown.
- Ensure proper wiring to avoid electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician if unsure.
- Keep children and pets away from the operating area of the shutter/awning.
5. Installation
Follow these steps for proper installation of the tubular motor and control kit.
5.1. Crown and Drive Adapter Selection
The crown and drive adapter must be compatible with your rolling tube's outer diameter and inner structure. We provide standard Dooya adapters for common tube types. If your tube has a unique inner structure, you may need to modify the provided adapters, use 3D printed alternatives, or source them locally. If your old crown and drive adapter are in good condition, reusing them is often the best option.
Examples of Crown and Drive Adapters for different tube types:
- 50mm Round Tube Adapter
- 55mm Groove Tube Crown and Adapter
- 60mm Octagonal Tube Crown and Adapter
- 60mm Groove Tube Crown and Adapter
- 63mm Groove Tube Crown and Adapter
- 70mm Groove Tube Crown and Adapter
- 85mm Groove Tube Crown and Adapter
- 90mm Groove Tube Crown and Adapter
5.2. Crown and Drive Adapter Installation
- Insert the crown onto the motor shaft.
- Insert the drive adapter onto the motor shaft, ensuring it aligns correctly with the crown.
- Secure the crown with 5 short rivets. Ensure not to pierce the steel ring inside the crown.
- Align the wheel centerline of the motor with the tube.
- Install the fixed tail plug into the other end of the tube.
5.3. Bracket Installation
There are typically two methods for bracket installation:
5.3.1. Bracket Installation A (Side Mount)
- Mount the brackets to the wall or frame using appropriate fasteners.
- Insert the motor assembly into the brackets.
- Secure the motor in place.
5.3.2. Bracket Installation B (Top Mount)
- Mount the brackets to the top frame or ceiling.
- Insert the motor assembly into the brackets.
- Secure the motor in place.
5.4. Circuit Installation
Connect the motor to the power supply and control unit according to the wiring diagrams below. Ensure the voltage matches the product nameplate (230V/50Hz or 120V/60Hz).
5.4.1. Circuit Installation A
Standard wiring for basic control.
5.4.2. Circuit Installation B
Alternative wiring configuration.
5.4.3. Circuit Installation C
Wiring for tubular motor with integrated control.
The DC31 Control Kit includes a wiring harness for easy connection. The motor also supports various matchable control systems like DC41, DC42, DC73, DC74, DC43, DC83, and other control systems such as single manual switches (DC59, DC63, DC25, DC27) and central control (DC80, UPS).
6. Operation
6.1. Remote Control (DC31 Kit)
The DC31 Control Kit comes with two DC30 remote controls. These remotes operate on RF433 frequency. Ensure the remote is paired with the DC31 receiver for operation.
6.2. Limit Setting
The motor's upper and lower travel limits need to be set after installation. Use the special regulator (adjust rod) to set these limits.
6.2.1. Up Limit Setting
- Switch on the power.
- Press the UP button on the remote control one time.
- Use the special regulator to adjust the '+' direction, rotating the red worm when needing to increase the up distance.
- When the desired UP limit is achieved, stop rotating the red worm and press the STOP button on the remote. The up limit setting is now complete.
Note: If the motor doesn't stop rotating, check the red or white worm with the regulator.
6.2.2. Down Limit Setting
- Switch on the power.
- Press the DOWN button on the remote control one time.
- Use the special regulator to adjust the '+' direction, rotating the red worm when needing to increase the down distance.
- When the desired DOWN limit is achieved, stop rotating the red worm and press the STOP button on the remote. The down limit setting is now complete.
Note: If the motor doesn't stop rotating, check the red or white worm with the regulator.
6.3. Manual Control (When Power Off)
The DM45M motor supports manual control in case of power failure. A hand crank can be connected to operate the shutter/awning.
7. Maintenance
The Dooya DM45M tubular motor is designed for low maintenance. However, regular checks can prolong its lifespan and ensure optimal performance:
- Periodically inspect all mounting hardware to ensure it is secure.
- Check the power cable for any signs of damage or wear.
- Keep the motor and control unit free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Ensure the shutter or awning mechanism operates smoothly without obstruction.
- Do not attempt to lubricate internal motor components.
8. Troubleshooting
Refer to the table below for common issues and their solutions:
| No. | Fail-phenomena | Failure causes | Solutions failure recovery |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Press the UP button of the controller, the shutter moves downward | Inside wire connecting of the controller is wrong | Exchange the position of black wire and brown wire |
| 2 | Switch on, the drive adapter runs in one-way operation | Inside limit switch of motor doesn't open | Crown running one circle in the opposite direction, then it works |
| 3 | Motor starts slowly or not work after connect power | a. Power voltage is slow b. Wiring error c. Overload d. Improper installation |
a. Adjust power to rated data b. Check circuit and correct wiring connecting c. Rated torque associated with the installation of the load d. Re-install the motor |
| 4 | Motor stops suddenly after running | Motor stops suddenly after running | Motor will automatically resume work after 20 minutes cooling |
| 5 | Abnormal sound during roller blinds in operation | Outer tube is too long, led the rolling shutter connects with both sides of bracket too tightly | If idler is active, properly make the tube shorter to avoid too tight status. |
9. User Tips
- This motor system is suitable for both rolling shutter doors and awnings.
- Always double-check the compatibility of the crown and drive adapter with your specific tube type before installation. Modifications or local sourcing might be necessary for non-standard tubes.
- For optimal performance and longevity, ensure all electrical connections are secure and correctly wired according to the provided diagrams.
