3.1 Mounting the G2P on the Helmet

You have two options for mounting the G2P main unit to your helmet: the clip mounting bracket or the 3M tape mounting bracket.

3.1.1 Using the Clip Mounting Bracket

  1. Open the clip mounting bracket.
  2. Insert the bracket into the edge of your helmet shell.

3.1.2 Using the 3M Tape Mounting Bracket

  1. Peel off the protective paper from the back of the 3M tape mounting bracket.
  2. Attach the 3M tape mounting bracket to a suitable position on the left side of your helmet.
  3. Press firmly for 15 seconds to ensure adhesion.
  4. Allow the adhesive to dry for 24 hours before use.

Note: While the 3M tape bracket offers convenience, Lexin recommends using the clip mounting bracket for a more secure attachment. The 3M tape bracket is used at your own risk.

3.1.3 Attaching the G2P Main Unit to the Bracket

The G2P main unit has two square columns on its back, which correspond to square holes on the mounting bracket.

  1. Align the square columns on the back of the G2P unit with the square holes on the bracket.
  2. Slide the unit downwards onto the bracket until it firmly clicks into place at the bottom.

3.1.4 Removing the G2P Main Unit from the Bracket

To remove the G2P unit from the bracket, ensure the headset connector is not attached. Push the unit firmly upwards and to the left until it slides off the bracket.

3.2 Installing Speakers

The G2P comes with 40mm HD stereo speakers. The speaker with the shorter cable is for the left ear, and the one with the longer cable is for the right ear. This configuration also helps improve FM radio reception.

  1. Peel off the 3M tape from the back of the speaker and attach it to the inner padding of your helmet.
  2. Press the speakers firmly against the Velcro pads to secure them.
  3. If your helmet has deep ear pockets, use the provided additional speaker pads to bring the speakers closer to your ears for optimal sound quality.
  4. Carefully tuck and hide all cables between the helmet lining and the shell.

3.3 Installing Microphone

You can choose between the boom microphone (for open-face helmets) and the button microphone (for full-face helmets) based on your helmet type and preference.

3.3.1 For Full-Face Helmets (Button Microphone)

  1. Locate an area in the center of the helmet's mouth section.
  2. Attach one half of the microphone's Velcro pad to this area.
  3. Secure the button microphone to the attached Velcro.
  4. Connect the microphone cable to the headset port on the left side of the G2P unit.

3.3.2 For Open-Face Helmets (Boom Microphone)

  1. Attach one half of the Velcro pad to the base of the boom microphone.
  2. Attach the other half of the Velcro pad to the inside of the helmet's chin guard.
  3. Adjust the microphone direction so that the triangular sign points towards your mouth.
  4. Connect the microphone cable to the headset port on the left side of the G2P unit.

3.4 Replacing Decorative Shells

The G2P comes with interchangeable decorative shells to customize its appearance.

  1. To remove the current shell, locate the small gap on the left side of the shell and use a thin object to gently pry it off.
  2. Choose a new decorative shell, align it with the G2P unit, and press it firmly until it clicks perfectly into place.

7. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Lexin G2P.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Water Resistance: The G2P is IP67 waterproof. While it can withstand rain and splashes, avoid submerging it in water for extended periods. Ensure the USB-C port cover is securely closed when not charging to maintain water resistance.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the device regularly, especially if it will be stored for a long time. Store the device in a cool, dry place.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the G2P in a dry environment at room temperature.
  • Cable Management: Ensure all cables (speaker, microphone, charging) are properly routed and not pinched or strained, especially when installing them within the helmet.

8. Troubleshooting

No Sound After Pairing:
Ensure the volume on both the G2P and your connected phone/device is turned up. Check that the speaker cables are correctly connected to the G2P unit and that the speakers are positioned correctly in your helmet.
Intercom Range Issues:
The stated intercom range of 1.2 miles (1200m) is for ideal conditions without obstacles or Bluetooth interference. In real riding environments, the actual range may be reduced to 500-800 meters due to terrain, buildings, or other electronic devices. Ensure a clear line of sight between riders for best performance.
Cannot Connect to Other Brand Intercoms:
The Lexin G2P supports universal pairing. Follow the universal pairing instructions in section 5.3. If issues persist, ensure the other brand's intercom is in its universal pairing mode and try clearing the G2P's pairing history before attempting to connect.
Battery Drains Quickly:
Ensure the device is fully charged (LED turns blue). High volume usage or continuous intercom conversations can reduce battery life. If the issue persists, the battery may need replacement or there could be a fault with the charging cable/port.
Voice Assistant Not Responding:
Ensure your phone is properly paired and its voice assistant (Siri, Google Assistant, Bixby) is enabled and configured. Double-click the Power button to activate the voice assistant.

9. User Tips

  • Speaker Placement: Experiment with speaker placement within your helmet. Using the provided extra speaker pads can significantly improve sound quality and volume, especially if your helmet has deep ear pockets.
  • Universal Pairing: The G2P is designed to universally pair with other brands like Cardo or Sena. Follow the universal pairing instructions carefully for successful connection.
  • Voice Prompts: Pay attention to the voice prompts for battery level and pairing status, as they provide crucial information about your device's state.
  • FM Radio Reception: For optimal FM radio reception, ensure the speaker with the longer cable is connected to the right ear, as this configuration is designed to enhance radio signal.
  • Group Communication: While the G2P can connect up to 6 riders, remember that only two can actively converse at any given time. Plan your communication strategy within your group accordingly.
