8. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the surface of the solar panel with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could scratch the ETFE surface.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect all cables and connections for any signs of wear, fraying, or corrosion. Ensure all plugs and clips are securely attached.
- Storage: When not in use, fold the solar panel and store it in a dry, cool, and protected area away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Environmental Protection: While the panel is weather-resistant, prolonged exposure to severe weather conditions (e.g., heavy storms, extreme heat/cold) should be minimized to extend its lifespan.
9. Troubleshooting
- No Power Output:
- Check all cable connections to ensure they are secure.
- Verify the solar panel is in direct sunlight and not shaded by trees, buildings, or other objects.
- Ensure the charge controller is properly connected, especially the battery connection first.
- Slow Charging:
- Reposition the solar panel to achieve a more direct angle to the sun.
- Check for any partial shading on the panel surface. Even small shadows can significantly reduce output.
- Ensure the cables used are of adequate gauge (minimum No.12AWG copper thread for on-site connections) and not excessively long, which can lead to voltage drop.
- Controller Display Not Working:
- Confirm the battery is connected to the controller. The controller typically draws power from the battery to operate its display.
- Check the battery voltage; if the battery is completely drained, the controller may not power on.
10. User Tips
- Power Needs Assessment: Before purchasing, consider your total power requirements (e.g., for lights, small refrigerator, cell phone charging, TV) to select a solar panel with adequate wattage and ensure your battery capacity is sufficient.
- Battery First Rule: Always connect the battery to the charge controller before connecting the solar panel. This is a critical step to prevent damage to the charge controller.
- Maximize Sunlight: Even on cloudy days, solar panels can generate some power. However, for optimal performance, aim for direct, unobstructed sunlight.
- Adapter Versatility: Utilize the provided adapter set to ensure compatibility with a wide range of power stations and devices.
