5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Power On/Off
Press the red power button to turn the multimeter on. Press and hold the power button to turn it off. The device also features an automatic shut-down function to conserve battery life.
5.2. Auto Mode Selection
The multimeter defaults to Auto Mode upon power-on. In this mode, it automatically identifies and measures AC/DC voltage, resistance, and continuity with the best resolution. Press the "AUTO" button to toggle this feature.

Figure 5: Auto Mode automatically selects the appropriate measurement function.
5.3. Function Selection (SEL Button)
When not in Auto Mode, press the "SEL" button to cycle through different measurement functions such as voltage, resistance, capacitance, frequency, diode, and continuity.
5.4. Measurement Functions
- AC/DC Voltage Measurement: Connect the test leads to the circuit. The display will show the voltage. The A3X model supports up to 600V AC/DC.
- Resistance Measurement: Ensure the circuit is de-energized. Connect the test leads across the component. The display shows resistance in Ohms (Ω).
- Capacitance Measurement: Ensure the capacitor is discharged before testing. Connect the test leads across the capacitor. The display shows capacitance in Farads (F).
- Frequency Test: The A3X model can measure frequencies up to 4MHz.
- Diode Test: Connect the test leads across the diode. The display shows the forward voltage drop.
- Continuity Test: Connect the test leads across the circuit or component. If the resistance is less than 50Ω, a beeper will sound, indicating continuity.
- Battery Test: The multimeter can test battery voltage and polarity.

5.5. Special Features
- V-Alert (Non-Contact Voltage Detection - NCV): Hold the tip of the multimeter near a live wire or outlet. The device will beep and the LCD will display a stripe pattern, indicating the presence of AC voltage. The A3X model provides Low/High sensitivity detection.
- Live Wire Detection: Distinguish between live and neutral wires by comparing the strength of the detected voltage signal. The wire with the stronger signal is the live wire. The display will show red for live and green for neutral.
- Breakpoint Locate: Quickly locate breakpoints in a wire by detecting changes in voltage strength.
- True RMS Function: Accurately measures non-sine wave power, which is crucial for modern electrical appliances that often distort mains electricity.
- Bright LED Flashlight: Use the integrated flashlight for testing in dimly lit environments.
- Red/Green Bicolor Display: The display changes color (red/green) to provide clear visual feedback, especially for voltage strength detection (Null, Low, High).

6.2. Cleaning and Storage
- Clean the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Store the multimeter in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The recommended operating temperature is 0°C to 50°C.
- Use the included EVA portable cloth bag for protection during storage and transport.
7. Troubleshooting
- No Display/Faint Display: Check battery levels and replace if necessary. Ensure batteries are installed with correct polarity.
- Incorrect Readings: Verify that the correct measurement mode is selected (or Auto mode is functioning). Ensure test leads are properly connected and making good contact. Check for any visible damage to the device or leads.
- Overload Protection: The device is equipped with overload protection. If an overload occurs, disconnect the device from the circuit immediately and check the circuit for faults.
- Dangerous Voltage Alarm: If the alarm sounds unexpectedly, exercise extreme caution and verify the circuit status before proceeding.
