4. Setup Guide

4.1. Unboxing and Components

Upon opening the package, ensure all components are present:

  • Milestone P29L Thermal Printer
  • Power Adapter (AC100-240V input, DC9V/1A output)
  • USB Cable
  • User Manual
  • Optional: Carrying Bag, Paper Roll (depending on package)

4.2. Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the printer. Connect the power adapter to the printer's DC port and plug it into a power outlet. A full charge typically takes about 3 hours.

4.3. Installing Paper Roll

  1. Open the printer's top cover by pressing the release button.
  2. Remove any battery insulation stickers if present (refer to the sticker on the printer).
  3. Insert the thermal paper roll into the compartment, ensuring the printing side faces the thermal print head.
  4. Pull a small amount of paper out past the print head.
  5. Close the top cover firmly until it clicks into place.

5. Operation

5.1. Power On/Off

Press and hold the power button (usually marked with a universal power symbol) on the front panel to turn the printer on or off.

5.2. Connecting to Devices

The P29L printer supports both Bluetooth and USB connections.

5.2.1. Bluetooth Connection (Android/iOS)

  1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device.
  2. Download and install the official printing application, Mlabel, from your device's app store (Google Play for Android, App Store for iOS).
  3. Open the Mlabel application on your phone.
  4. Within the Mlabel app, navigate to the Bluetooth settings or device connection section.
  5. Select your printer from the list of available Bluetooth devices to connect. The default account for the app is "MHT" or "1" (no password required, just click login).
  6. Note: The printer's Bluetooth cannot be found or connected directly through your phone's system Bluetooth settings. Connection must be initiated from within the Mlabel application.

5.2.2. USB Connection (Computer)

  1. Connect the printer to your computer using the provided USB cable.
  2. Install the appropriate printer driver for your operating system (Windows 7 or Windows 10). Drivers can be downloaded from the following links:

5.3. Printing Labels and Receipts

The Mlabel application allows you to print both labels and receipts. You can edit text, use pre-designed templates, or utilize advanced features.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning the Printer

Regular cleaning helps maintain print quality and extends the printer's lifespan.

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power adapter before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol to clean the thermal print head. Allow it to dry completely before use.
  • Clean the paper path and rollers to remove any paper dust or debris.
  • Wipe the exterior of the printer with a soft, dry cloth.

6.2. Paper Handling and Storage

  • Use only high-quality thermal paper to ensure optimal print results and prevent damage to the print head.
  • Store thermal paper in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat to prevent premature discoloration.
  • Ensure the paper roll is correctly installed to avoid paper jams.

6.3. Battery Care

To maximize battery life:

  • Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
  • If storing the printer for an extended period, charge the battery to about 50% and store it in a cool, dry place.
  • Always remove any battery insulation stickers before first use.
