6.3 Performing a Test
- Ensure the device is powered on and the correct brake fluid type is selected.
- Remove the protective pen cap from the probe.
- In a clean air environment, press the power key to turn on. The detector will start preheating for 3 seconds, and an analog bar will be displayed during this time.
- After waiting for about 3 seconds for preheating to complete, immerse the metal probe into the brake fluid reservoir. Ensure the probe is fully submerged in the liquid.
- The device will display the water content percentage.

6.4 Interpreting Results (Tricolor Screen)
The HT662 features a high-definition backlit tricolor screen that automatically matches the suitable backlight color based on the measured water content, providing clear visual indication:
- Green Backlight (Values 0-2%): Indicates that the brake fluid is in good condition and safe to use.
- Yellow Backlight (Values 2-3%): Suggests that the brake fluid is starting to absorb moisture and should be monitored. Replacement may be necessary soon.
- Red Backlight (Values greater than 3%): Indicates that the brake fluid has absorbed too much moisture and needs immediate replacement to ensure braking performance and safety.
In addition to the visual cues, the device provides audible alerts. The signal intensity indication method involves the sound from slow to fast, and the backlight changing from green to red as the water content increases.

6.5 Low Voltage Warning
When the battery voltage is below 2.6V, a battery symbol will be displayed in the upper right corner of the screen. If the battery voltage drops to approximately 2.4V or below, the testing pen will automatically power off. Replace the batteries promptly when the low voltage warning appears.
6.6 Automatic Shutdown
If there is no operation within 5 minutes after startup, the instrument will automatically power off to conserve battery life.

7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the metal probe thoroughly with a dry, lint-free cloth to remove any brake fluid residue. Ensure the probe is completely dry before replacing the pen cap.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Always replace the protective pen cap to prevent scratches and oxidation of the metal detection head.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries promptly when the low voltage warning appears to ensure accurate readings and prevent device malfunction.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not power on | Dead or incorrectly installed batteries | Check battery polarity and replace with new AAA batteries if necessary. |
| Inaccurate readings | Dirty probe, incorrect brake fluid type selected, or probe not fully submerged | Clean and dry the probe. Ensure the correct DOT type is selected. Submerge the probe completely in the fluid. |
| Low voltage warning appears frequently | Weak batteries | Replace both AAA batteries with new ones. |
| Automatic shutdown occurs too quickly | No operation or sensing signal for 5 minutes | This is a normal power-saving feature. Ensure you are actively using the device during testing. |
9. User Tips
- For best results, perform tests in a clean environment to avoid contamination of the brake fluid or the probe.
- Always ensure the probe is clean and dry before and after each test to prevent cross-contamination between different brake fluid types or inaccurate readings.
- When testing, immerse the probe into the brake fluid for a few seconds to allow for a stable reading.
- The pen clip design makes it convenient to carry the tester in a shirt pocket, ensuring it's always handy for quick checks.
