5. Setup Guide

5.1 Physical Assembly

The LiteMarker-M is designed for portability and ease of setup. The main unit (laser source) and the marking head with its column are separate components that connect for operation.

Dimensions of Cloudray LiteMarker-M Fiber Laser Marking Machine
Dimensions of the LiteMarker-M machine. The laser unit measures 360mm (14.2in) x 305mm (12in) x 135mm (5.3in). The marking head assembly measures 437mm (17.2in) in height, with a base of 280mm (11in) x 380mm (15in). Total weight is approximately 20KG.

The machine features an exclusive mechanical structure for enhanced usability:

  • Low-voltage start self-locking button: For enhanced safety.
  • Box-shaped handle design: For easier carrying.
  • Upgrade Column Lift: Smooth adjustment for finer vertical displacement.
  • Upgrade Integrated + Laser Path: More stable operation, convenient installation, and fast focus.
  • Through-hole ventilation design: For improved heat dissipation.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your laser marking machine.

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the F-theta lens and protective window with a soft, lint-free cloth and lens cleaning solution.
  • Air Filters: Check and clean or replace air filters on the laser unit periodically to ensure proper cooling and prevent dust buildup.
  • Connections: Ensure all cables and connections are secure and free from damage.
  • Software Updates: Keep your marking software updated to the latest version for best performance and new features.
  • Environmental Control: Operate the machine within the specified ambient temperature and humidity ranges to prevent damage.

8. Troubleshooting

Common Issues & Solutions:

  • No Laser Output: Check power connections, emergency stop button, and software settings. Ensure the laser source is powered on and ready.
  • Poor Marking Quality: Verify focus distance, lens cleanliness, and laser parameters (power, frequency, speed, pulse width) for the specific material.
  • Software Not Connecting: Check USB cable connection, driver installation, and ensure only one instance of the software is running.
  • Machine Overheating: Ensure ventilation is unobstructed and air filters are clean. Operate within recommended ambient temperatures.

Q&A Insights:

  • Can quartz glass be marked? While fiber lasers are primarily for metals and some plastics, marking on glass, especially quartz glass, is challenging and may not yield satisfactory results. CO2 lasers are generally more suitable for glass.
  • Can this equipment engrave on glass? Similar to marking, engraving on glass with a fiber laser is difficult. The laser's wavelength is not ideal for direct absorption by glass, often leading to cracking or poor quality marks.
  • Is it possible to use a 300x300mm lens? The marking area support is M55 thread 50x50mm to 200x200mm. A 300x300mm lens might not be compatible or require significant modifications and specialized optics.
  • Is this equipment dual voltage (bivolt)? The power requirements are 110-230V AC, 50/60HZ, single-phase, indicating it is compatible with both common voltage standards.

9. User Tips

  • Material Testing: Always perform small test marks on new materials or when adjusting parameters to find the optimal settings.
  • Focus Accuracy: Precise focusing is crucial for sharp and consistent marks. Use the column lift for fine adjustments.
  • Rotary Axis: For cylindrical objects, ensure the rotary axis is properly aligned and the object is securely clamped to prevent movement during engraving.
  • Software Proficiency: Invest time in learning your chosen software (EZCAD2 or LightBurn) to unlock the full potential of your machine for complex designs and efficient workflows.
  • Deep Engraving: For deep engraving and cutting thin metal plates, 50W or 60W machines are recommended over 30W for better results.
