Follow these steps carefully to install your adapter:
- Power Off Vehicle: Ensure your car's ignition is off and the battery is disconnected to prevent electrical damage.
- Remove Car Radio: Carefully remove your car's head unit from the dashboard. Consult your vehicle's service manual if you are unsure how to do this.
- Locate iP-Bus Port: Identify the iP-Bus port at the back of your car radio. This is typically a 10+10 Pin connector.
- Connect Adapter: Plug the main adapter unit's connector into the iP-Bus port on the back of the radio.
- Connect Microphone (for Bluetooth): If you plan to use the Bluetooth hands-free function, plug the included microphone into the designated MIC port on the adapter. Route the microphone cable to a suitable position (e.g., near the sun visor or steering column) for optimal voice pickup.
- Connect External Devices (Optional): If using an iPod/iPhone via cable or an AUX device, connect it to the respective port on the adapter.
- Secure Wiring: Ensure all cables are securely connected and routed to avoid interference or damage.
- Reinstall Radio: Carefully reinstall the car radio into the dashboard.
- Reconnect Battery: Reconnect your car's battery.

Operating Instructions
Activating the Adapter
- Turn on your car's ignition and the car radio.
- Press the 'CD/AUX' button on your car radio to switch to the adapter's input mode. The radio display should indicate activation of the CD changer or AUX input.
Bluetooth Operation
- Pairing: On your mobile device, enable Bluetooth and search for available devices. Select the adapter (usually named 'BT' or similar) to pair.
- Hands-Free Calling: When a call comes in, the device will automatically switch from the current audio mode (e.g., USB, AUX) to Bluetooth mode. Press the 'TRACK +/-' buttons on your car stereo to answer or end the call. After the call, audio playback will resume automatically.
- Audio Streaming (A2DP): Once paired, you can stream music wirelessly from your mobile device to your car stereo. Control playback (play/pause, next/previous track) using your mobile device or the 'TRACK +/-' buttons on your car stereo.
USB Playback
- Prepare USB Stick: Copy MP3 or WMA audio files to the root directory of a USB stick (8GB to 128GB).
- Insert USB Stick: Insert the USB stick into the USB interface on the adapter.
- Playback: The adapter will automatically detect and play audio files from the USB stick. Use the 'DISC +/-' buttons to navigate between virtual folders (CD1, CD2, etc.) and 'TRACK +/-' to change tracks within a folder.

AUX Input
Connect any audio device (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone) to the 3.5mm AUX input port on the adapter using the provided extension cable. Select the AUX input mode on your car stereo to listen to audio from the connected device. Playback control will be managed directly on the connected device.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power/Adapter not recognized | Incorrect connection to iP-Bus port; Vehicle not powered off during installation. | Ensure all connections are secure. Disconnect car battery, re-check connections, then reconnect battery. Verify head unit is compatible. |
| No audio output | Incorrect source selected on radio; Volume too low; Faulty cable/USB stick. | Press 'CD/AUX' button to select the correct input. Increase volume on both radio and connected device. Test with a different USB stick or AUX cable. |
| Bluetooth not pairing/connecting | Adapter not in pairing mode; Bluetooth disabled on phone; Interference. | Ensure adapter is powered on and in discovery mode. Restart phone's Bluetooth. Move phone closer to the adapter. |
| USB playback issues (e.g., not playing, skipping) | Unsupported file format; USB stick not formatted correctly; USB stick capacity too large/small. | Ensure files are MP3 or WMA. Format USB stick to FAT32. Use a USB stick within the 8GB-128GB range. Ensure files are in the root directory. |
| Microphone not working for calls | Microphone not connected; Microphone placed incorrectly. | Ensure microphone is securely plugged into the adapter. Reposition microphone closer to the driver for better voice pickup. |
User Tips
- USB Stick for Music: Remember that the USB port is strictly for playing MP3/WMA files from a USB flash drive. It cannot be used to charge your phone or play music directly from a phone's storage.
- File Organization: For USB playback, place your MP3/WMA files directly in the root directory of the USB stick. The adapter will typically assign these to 'CD1'. If you create folders, they may be recognized as 'CD2', 'CD3', etc.
- Microphone Placement: For the best hands-free call quality, position the microphone in a clear, unobstructed location, such as clipped to the sun visor or near the instrument cluster, away from air vents.
Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your ATOCOTO adapter, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:
- Keep Dry: Avoid exposing the device to moisture or liquids.
- Clean Gently: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the adapter. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Do not expose the device to extremely high or low temperatures, as this can affect its electronic components.
- Check Connections: Periodically check that all cables are securely connected, especially after driving on rough terrain.
