5. Setup
5.1 Wire Connection
Connect the GYRO unit to your RC system as shown in the diagram below. Ensure correct polarity for all connections.
- SERVO: Connect your steering servo to the 'S' port.
- RECEIVER: Connect the GYRO to your receiver's CH1 and CH3 ports.
- Power: The unit is powered via the receiver connection (3.7V-8.4V).
5.2 EPA Setting (End Point Adjustment)
The EPA setting allows you to define the maximum steering angles. Follow these steps for proper adjustment:
- Power On: Turn on your RC car and transmitter.
- Enter EPA Setup Mode: Press and hold the 'EPA SETUP' button (located near the servo port) for approximately 3 seconds until the LED starts flashing. This indicates you are in EPA setup mode.
- Set Left EPA: Turn the steering wheel of your transmitter to the full left position. Hold it there until the LED stops flashing and remains solid. This sets the left end point.
- Set Right EPA: Turn the steering wheel of your transmitter to the full right position. Hold it there until the LED stops flashing and remains solid. This sets the right end point.
- Save Settings: Release the steering wheel to the center position. The LED will flash rapidly, indicating that the EPA settings have been saved.
- Exit Setup Mode: The GYRO will automatically exit EPA setup mode after saving.
Note: If the LED does not respond as described, ensure your connections are secure and the unit is receiving adequate power.
6. Operation
6.1 Sensitivity Adjustment
The GYRO sensitivity can be adjusted to fine-tune the drift performance. Use the 'SENSITIVITY ADJUSTMENT' knob on the GYRO unit.
- Increase Sensitivity: Turn the knob clockwise to increase the GYRO's sensitivity. Higher sensitivity provides more aggressive counter-steering assistance, suitable for experienced users or specific track conditions.
- Decrease Sensitivity: Turn the knob counter-clockwise to decrease the GYRO's sensitivity. Lower sensitivity provides less assistance, making the car feel more direct and requiring more driver input. This is often preferred by beginners or for less aggressive drift styles.
It is recommended to start with a moderate sensitivity setting and adjust incrementally to find the optimal balance for your driving style and vehicle.
7. Maintenance
- Keep Clean: Regularly clean the GYRO unit to prevent dust and debris from affecting its performance. Use a soft, dry cloth.
- Avoid Moisture: Protect the unit from water and excessive humidity.
- Secure Mounting: Ensure the GYRO is securely mounted in your RC car to prevent vibrations from interfering with its operation.
- Inspect Connections: Periodically check all wire connections for looseness or damage.
8. Troubleshooting
- GYRO not responding or erratic behavior:
-
- Check all wire connections to the receiver and servo. Ensure they are secure and correctly polarized.
- Verify the power supply to the receiver is within the specified 3.7V-8.4V range.
- Ensure the GYRO is mounted firmly and not subject to excessive vibration.
- Recalibrate the EPA settings as described in Section 5.2.
- Steering feels too sensitive or not sensitive enough:
-
- Adjust the 'SENSITIVITY ADJUSTMENT' knob as described in Section 6.1.
- Ensure your transmitter's steering trim and sub-trim are set to neutral before adjusting GYRO sensitivity.
9. User Tips
- Receiver Compatibility: While designed for general RC use, some specific receiver brands (e.g., RadioLink) may require careful setup or specific channel assignments. Always refer to your receiver's manual for compatibility.
- Power Source: The GYRO supports a wide voltage range (3.7V-8.4V), making it compatible with common 1S LiPo batteries and higher voltage setups. Ensure your power source is stable.
- Initial Setup: Perform EPA calibration and sensitivity adjustment in a controlled environment before extensive use to get a feel for the GYRO's response.
