5. Setup

5.1. Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment cover.
  2. Insert the 1350mAh battery, ensuring correct polarity.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5.2. Memory Card Installation

  1. Locate the MicroSD/TF card slot.
  2. Insert a compatible MicroSDHC Card (U3, Max 256GB) into the slot until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove, press the card gently until it pops out.

5.3. Waterproof Case Usage (for Diving)

For underwater activities, the camera requires a waterproof case (included in some bundles or sold separately). Ensure the camera is properly sealed within the case before submerging. The case provides protection up to 30 meters depth.

5.4. External Microphone Connection (S81TRW model)

The S81TRW model supports an optional wireless microphone for enhanced audio recording. Connect the wireless microphone according to its specific instructions. For wired external microphones, connect via the Type-C interface.

5.5. Remote Control Pairing

If your package includes a remote control, follow the instructions provided with the remote to pair it with your camera. This allows for convenient control of recording and photo capture from a distance.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Power On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the Power button until the screen lights up.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the Power button until the screen turns off.

6.2. Screen Switching (Front/Rear)

On S81TR and S81TRW models, long press the "down" button to switch between the 2.0-inch rear touch screen and the 1.44-inch front screen.

6.3. Video Recording and Photo Capture

  • Video Resolutions: 5K/30fps, 4K/60fps, 4K/30fps, 2.7K/30fps, 1080p/120fps, 1080p/60fps.
  • Photo Resolutions: 48MP, 24MP, 20MP, 16MP, 14MP, 10MP, 8MP, 5MP.
  • Select your desired mode (video or photo) and resolution from the camera menu.
  • Press the Shutter/Record button to start/stop recording or take a photo.

6.4. Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS)

The 6-axis EIS provides steady and smooth videos. Activate EIS through the camera settings for optimal results in dynamic shooting scenarios. Note that EIS does not support 1080P 120fps, 720P 240fps/120fps videos, and cannot be simultaneously activated with "distortion correction", "Slow Motion", or "Intelligent Noise Reduction".

6.5. Lens Distortion Correction (LDC)

The intelligent algorithm corrects lens distortion for a more natural visual effect in photos. This feature is not available for video recording.

6.6. Motion Detection

When "Motion Detection" is turned on, the camera will automatically start shooting when it detects movement. If no movement is detected for 15 seconds, shooting will stop. It will resume automatically when movement is detected again. To cancel motion detection, press the "OK" button or select "OFF" from the menu.

6.7. Digital Zoom

The camera supports 4X digital zoom. This allows you to magnify your subject without physically moving closer.

6.8. Wi-Fi & APP Connection

  1. Short press the "down" button on the camera to quickly open the camera's Wi-Fi hotspot.
  2. The default hotspot password is "1234567890".
  3. Connect your smartphone to the camera's Wi-Fi network via your phone's Wi-Fi settings.
  4. Download and install the "ismart DV" app on your Android or iOS device (scan QR codes in the image).
  5. Open the app to control the camera, view real-time footage, upload photos/videos, and share to social media.
  6. Short press the "down" button again to turn off the Wi-Fi hotspot.

6.9. Webcam Mode

The AUSEK action camera can function as a full HD 1080P webcam. Connect it to your computer via a USB cable; it is driver-free.

6.10. Car DVR Record Mode

The camera can be used as a Car DVR. The recommended setting for this mode is 1080P 60fps with looping record enabled.

6.11. Using Optional Filter Lenses

The camera supports various optional filter lenses to enhance your shooting creativity. These include Macro, CPL (Polarizing), Purple, and ND (Light Reduction) filters.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the camera body and lens. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Do not use harsh chemicals.
  • Storage: Store the camera in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove the battery if storing for extended periods.
  • Waterproof Case: After using the waterproof case in saltwater, rinse it thoroughly with fresh water and allow it to air dry.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Camera not turning on: Ensure the battery is fully charged and correctly inserted.
  • Poor image/video quality: Check lens for smudges, ensure correct resolution settings, and verify EIS/LDC settings are appropriate for the scene.
  • Wireless microphone not pairing (S81TRW): Refer to the specific instructions provided with the wireless microphone for pairing procedures. Ensure the camera's Wi-Fi is active if required for pairing.
  • Wi-Fi connection issues: Ensure the camera's Wi-Fi hotspot is active and you are using the correct password ("1234567890" by default).
