1.5 Initial Warm-up

After connecting the power, allow the balance to warm up for 20-30 minutes before performing any measurements. This ensures internal components stabilize for accurate readings.

2. Operating Instructions

2.1 Control Panel Overview

Front view of the analytical balance showing the control panel with ON/OFF, UNIT, ZERO, CAL/PRT, and TARE buttons.
Figure 5: Control Panel
  • ON/OFF: Powers the balance on or off.
  • UNIT: Cycles through available weighing units (g, ct, oz, lb, ozt, etc.).
  • ZERO: Sets the display to zero.
  • CAL/PRT: Initiates calibration or sends data to a connected printer/computer.
  • TARE: Tares the current weight, setting the display to zero for subsequent measurements.

2.2 Basic Weighing Procedure

  1. Ensure the balance has completed its warm-up period and the level bubble is centered.
  2. Press the ON/OFF button to power on the balance.
  3. Wait for the display to show '0.000g'.
  4. Carefully place the item to be weighed on the center of the weighing pan.
  5. Close the windshield doors to prevent air currents from affecting the reading.
  6. Read the stable weight displayed on the large backlit LCD. Readings typically stabilize within 1-2 seconds.

2.3 Unit Conversion

Press the UNIT button to cycle through the available weighing units. The balance supports 13 different units including grams (g), carats (ct), ounces (oz), pounds (lb), and troy ounces (ozt).

2.4 Tare Function

To weigh an item in a container, first place the empty container on the weighing pan. Press the TARE button. The display will reset to '0.000g'. Then, add the item to be weighed into the container. The display will show only the net weight of the item.

2.5 Calibration

Regular calibration is crucial for maintaining the accuracy of your analytical balance. Refer to the detailed calibration procedure in the full user manual. Typically, this involves using the provided calibration mass weight and pressing the CAL/PRT button to initiate the process.

3. Maintenance

3.1 Cleaning

To clean the balance, gently wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse the unit in water. Ensure no liquids enter the internal components. The weighing pan can be removed for separate cleaning.

3.2 Storage

When not in use, store the analytical balance in a clean, dry, and stable environment, away from extreme temperatures, humidity, and direct sunlight. Keep the windshield closed to protect the weighing pan.

3.3 Recalibration

Perform regular calibration checks, especially if the balance has been moved, subjected to temperature changes, or if you suspect inaccurate readings. Follow the calibration procedure outlined in Section 2.5.

4. Troubleshooting

  • Unstable Readings:
    • Check if the balance is on a stable, level surface (refer to the level bubble).
    • Ensure the windshield doors are closed during weighing to prevent air currents.
    • Allow sufficient warm-up time (20-30 minutes).
    • Avoid placing the balance near vibrating machinery or strong electromagnetic fields.
  • Incorrect Readings:
    • Perform a calibration using the provided mass weight.
    • Ensure the weighing pan is clean and free of debris.
    • Verify the correct weighing unit is selected.
  • Display Not Working:
    • Check the power connection and ensure the adapter is securely plugged in.
    • If using battery power, ensure the battery is charged.
    • Press the ON/OFF button firmly.
