4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Helmet Installation
The R1 Pro can be installed on various helmet types including MODULAR, MOTOCROSS, Open face, Full Face, and Flip Up helmets. Use the provided hook clip or velcro clip for secure attachment to your helmet. Ensure the main unit is firmly attached and the speakers are positioned correctly inside the helmet for optimal audio.
4.2 Microphone and Speaker Placement
Choose between the soft or hard boom microphone based on your helmet type. The soft microphone is generally suitable for full-face helmets, while the hard boom microphone is better for open-face or modular helmets. Position the microphone close to your mouth to ensure clear voice transmission. Place the stereo ear speakers inside the helmet's ear pockets, ensuring they are centered over your ears for the best sound quality.
4.3 Charging the Device
Before first use, fully charge the R1 Pro. Connect the USB cable to the Power/Walkie-Talkie Connecting Port on the unit and to a 5V/1A USB power adapter. The charging time is approximately 2 hours. The device can be used while recharging.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off
- Power On: Press and hold the Multi-function/BT Power On/Off Button until the indicator light turns on.
- Power Off: Press and hold the Multi-function/BT Power On/Off Button until the indicator light turns off.
5.2 Bluetooth Pairing
The R1 Pro features Bluetooth 5.0 for stable and efficient wireless connections. It supports a universal pair system, allowing connection with other FreedConn models (like T-MAX S, T-MAX E, T-REX, F1 Plus) and even other brands.

- Pairing with Mobile Phone:
- With the R1 Pro powered off, press and hold the Multi-function/BT Power On/Off Button until the Bluetooth indicator light flashes rapidly (pairing mode).
- On your mobile phone, enable Bluetooth and search for "FreedConn R1 Pro".
- Select the device to pair. A voice prompt will confirm successful pairing.
- Pairing with another Intercom Unit: Refer to the specific pairing instructions in the full manual for detailed steps on connecting multiple intercom units.
5.3 Intercom Communication
The R1 Pro supports full-duplex wireless intercom among up to 6 users within a 1000-meter range, allowing for simultaneous conversation.

- Start/Stop Recording: Press the Video On/Off/Pause Button (refer to Figure 4) to start or stop video recording. The video indicator light will show the recording status.
- Capturing Photos: A short press of the dedicated photo button (if available, or a specific combination as per the full manual) will capture a still image.
- Loop Recording: The device supports loop video recording, automatically overwriting the oldest files when the memory card is full.
- Memory Card: Ensure a Micro SD card (up to 128GB supported) is inserted into the card slot for recording.
