3. Setup and Preparation

Before printing, ensure your printer is clean and properly configured for photo paper. Follow these steps:

  1. Identify the Print Side: The KODAK Self-adhesive High Gloss Photo Paper has a designated print side (the glossy side) and a backing side (silicone paper). Always load the paper into your printer so that the image will be printed on the glossy side.
  2. Ink Compatibility: This photo paper is designed for use with dye inks. Ensure your inkjet printer uses dye-based inks for optimal results. Pigment inks are not supported and may lead to poor print quality or drying issues.
  3. Printer Settings: Adjust your printer settings to "Photo Paper" or "Glossy Paper" for the best print quality. Select the appropriate paper size (A4 or A6) in your printer's software.

4. Operating Instructions

Once your printer is set up and the paper is loaded correctly, you can proceed with printing and application:

  1. Printing: Print your desired image or document on the glossy side of the photo paper. The advanced paper technology ensures instant drying, so prints are ready to handle immediately after exiting the printer.
  2. Applying the Sticker: After printing and ensuring the print is completely dry (though it's designed for instant dry, a few seconds won't hurt), carefully tear off the silicone oil paper from the back of the printed photo. This will expose the sticky adhesive layer.
  3. Placement: Position the self-adhesive photo paper onto your desired surface. The multipurpose high-quality glue allows it to adhere to various surfaces such as wooden, metal, glass, ceramic, and paper surfaces. Press firmly from the center outwards to remove any air bubbles and ensure a smooth application.

Applications:

This versatile photo paper is suitable for a wide range of uses, including:

  • ID photos and portrait photos
  • Landscape photography prints
  • Creating photo walls
  • Refrigerator stickers
  • Label stickers
  • Poster making
  • Arts and crafts projects

5. Maintenance

No specific maintenance is required for the photo paper itself. To ensure the longevity of your prints:

  • Store unused photo paper in its original packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity.
  • Avoid touching the printed surface excessively to prevent fingerprints or smudges.
  • For cleaning applied stickers, gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or excessive moisture.

6. Troubleshooting

Issue: Poor print quality, colors appear dull, or ink does not dry properly.
Solution: Ensure you are using dye-based inks. This photo paper is specifically designed for dye inks and does not support pigment inks. Check your printer's ink type and replace if necessary. Also, verify that your printer settings are configured for "Photo Paper" or "Glossy Paper" and the correct paper size.
Issue: The paper is not sticking to the surface after printing.
Solution: Make sure you have completely removed the silicone oil paper backing from the printed photo. The adhesive layer is underneath this backing. Ensure the surface you are applying the sticker to is clean, dry, and smooth.
Issue: Prints are smudged or smeared immediately after printing.
Solution: While the paper is designed for instant drying, ensure your printer settings are optimized for photo paper to prevent excessive ink saturation. Also, confirm you are printing on the glossy side of the paper. If the issue persists, allow a few extra seconds for the print to dry before handling.

7. User Tips

  • For best results, always perform a test print on a regular sheet of paper or a spare photo paper sheet to check color accuracy and layout before printing your final image.
  • When peeling the silicone backing, start from a corner and peel slowly and evenly to avoid tearing the adhesive layer or the print.
  • Consider the surface material when applying. While versatile, extremely textured or porous surfaces might affect adhesion.
