Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the flash unit. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Battery Care: Store the Li-ion battery in a cool, dry place when not in use. If storing for extended periods, charge it to about 50% capacity. Do not expose the battery to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the flash unit in its protective bag to prevent dust and scratches.
  • Firmware Updates: The Godox V1 supports USB firmware upgrades. Check the official Godox website periodically for new firmware versions to ensure optimal performance and compatibility.

Troubleshooting

Flash not firing or inconsistent output:

  • Ensure the flash is securely mounted on the camera's hot-shoe.
  • Check battery level; recharge if low.
  • Verify flash mode settings (TTL, Manual, HSS) match camera settings.
  • If using wireless, ensure the master and slave units are on the same channel and ID.
  • Check for any obstructions between the flash and the subject.

Flash not compatible with my camera:

  • The Godox V1 series is designed for specific camera brands (Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji, Olympus, Pentax). Ensure you have the correct V1 model (e.g., V1C for Canon, V1N for Nikon, V1S for Sony, V1F for Fujifilm, V1O for Olympus, V1P for Pentax).
  • For Nikon D3400 users, the V1N model should be compatible.
  • For Nikon 1 V2 users, compatibility may vary; check the latest firmware or consult Godox support.

Overheating warning:

  • Excessive rapid firing can cause the flash to overheat. Allow the unit to cool down before resuming use.
  • Reduce flash power or increase the interval between shots.
