Operation
Button Functions
- ON/OFF Button: Short press to turn the device on or off.
- HOLD/Tilt% Button:
- Short press to activate the data hold function, freezing the current reading on the display.
- Long press for 2 seconds to switch between angle (degrees) and slope (percent) readouts.
- ZERO Button:
- Press to reset the display to 0.00° for relative measurements. This allows you to measure the angle relative to any chosen surface.
- Also used in the calibration process.
Measurement Modes
- Absolute Measuring Mode: When the instrument is turned on, the readout displays the angle relative to the absolute level. The absolute zero position is factory-calibrated.
- Relative Measuring Mode: This mode allows you to set any surface as a reference (0.00°) and measure subsequent angles relative to that reference. To use:
- Place the instrument on your desired reference surface.
- Press the 'ZERO' button. The display will show '0.00°'.
- Move the instrument to the surface you wish to measure. The display will show the angle relative to your set reference.
Display Features
- Backlight: The green backlight can be activated for easy reading in dark environments.
- Auto-Reversed Display: When the product is inverted, the numbers on the display automatically reverse for upright viewing.
- Tilt Indicators: When the display shows "▼" on the left and "▲" on the right, it indicates the left side is lower and the right side is higher. Conversely, "▲" on the left and "▼" on the right means the left side is higher and the right side is lower.

Calibration
The inclinometer is fully calibrated prior to shipment from the factory. Recalibrate only if you suspect it is inaccurate.
Recalibration Procedure
- Place the bottom surface of the instrument onto a level surface that has been verified as truly level.
- With the instrument powered off, hold it steady. Press and hold the "ZERO" button, then press the "ON/OFF" button. The LCD will display "CAL1", indicating entry into calibration status.
- While holding the instrument still, press the "ZERO" button again. The LCD will display "CAL2".
- Rotate the instrument 90 degrees clockwise. Hold it still and press the "ZERO" button again. The LCD will display "CAL3".
- Rotate the instrument another 90 degrees clockwise. Hold it still and press the "ZERO" button again. The LCD will display "CAL4".
- Rotate the instrument another 90 degrees clockwise. Hold it still and press the "ZERO" button again. The LCD will display "CAL5".
- Rotate the instrument a final 90 degrees clockwise (returning to the original orientation). Hold it still and press the "ZERO" button again. The LCD will display "PASS", then return to "0.00".
Important: Ensure the instrument is held perfectly still each time you press the "ZERO" button during calibration.
Maintenance
- Keep the instrument clean and dry. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
- If the instrument will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
- Store the inclinometer in its original packaging or a protective case when not in use.
Troubleshooting
- Display not turning on: Check if the batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Replace batteries if necessary.
- Inaccurate readings: Perform the recalibration procedure as described in the 'Calibration' section. Ensure the measurement surface is stable and free from vibrations.
- Display flickering or erratic behavior: Low battery power can cause this. Replace the batteries.
User Tips
- For best accuracy, always ensure the measurement surface is clean and free of debris before placing the inclinometer.
- Utilize the magnetic base for hands-free operation on ferrous metal surfaces, which can greatly improve stability and measurement consistency.
- Remember to use the 'ZERO' button for relative measurements when you need to establish a custom reference angle.
- The backlight feature is particularly useful in dimly lit workshops or construction sites.
