3. Compatibility

The ANCEL A202 is designed to support all standard OBD2 compliant vehicles. However, it does NOT support vehicles using the J1850 (J1850 PWM, J1850 VPM) protocols. It is crucial to verify your vehicle's protocols before purchase.

5. Setup

5.1 Installation Steps

  1. Locate the vehicle's OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) check port. This is typically found under the dashboard on the driver's side.
  2. Insert the OBD16pin connector of the provided cable into the vehicle's OBD port.
  3. Insert the USB end of the cable into the data interface on the ANCEL A202 unit.
  4. Start your car's engine. The A202 will automatically power on and attempt to establish communication with the vehicle's computer.
  5. Once communication is successfully established, the unit will emit a "drop" sound, and the display screen will show vehicle protocols. This indicates that the device is ready for initial parameter setup.

8.1 Common Issues and Solutions

Q: Why does the device automatically turn off after a period of time?
A: The default sleep time is 30 seconds. When your engine is turned off, the device will automatically power down after 30 seconds. You can adjust this setting by navigating to "Settings" > "SleepTimeSet" and setting a different duration.
Q: Why are my car dashboard lights or fault alarm lights lit up abnormally when using the device?
A: In some vehicles, using the A202 may cause abnormal dashboard or fault alarm lights. This can often be resolved by modifying the OBD connector. Refer to the "Product inf" > "Matching inf" section on the device for specific instructions. This typically involves carefully cutting off pins 7 and 15 on the OBD connector using needle-nose pliers to eliminate such phenomena.
