The PD-3ST3 meter is designed for panel mounting. Ensure the mounting hole dimensions are 96x96mm. Secure the meter using the provided mounting clips on the sides of the unit.
Wiring Diagram
WARNING: Installation should only be performed by qualified personnel. Ensure all power is disconnected before wiring to prevent electric shock or damage to the equipment.
Refer to the detailed wiring diagram on the back of the meter for correct connections. The meter supports both 3-phase 4-wire and 3-phase 3-wire configurations.
Terminal Descriptions:
- Power (N, L): Terminals 1, 2 for 220VAC power supply.
- Voltage (Un, Uc, Ub, Ua): Terminals 14, 13, 12, 11 for voltage inputs.
- Current Signal (Ic*, Ic, Ib*, Ib, Ia*, Ia): Terminals 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 for current transformer (CT) inputs. Note: Current with '*' symbol is the input end.
- Active Pulse (AP+, AP-): Terminals 46, 47.
- Reactive Pulse (RP+, RP-): Terminals 48, 49.
- On-Off Input (COM, IN1, IN2): Terminals 30, 35, 36.
- RS485 (B, A): Terminals 59, 58 for Modbus-RTU communication.
- On-Off Output (D0, D4, D3, D2, D1): Terminals 34, 33, 32, 31, 29.
- Transmitting Output (COM, IN4, IN3, A0+, A0-, A0+, A0-): Terminals 30, 28, 27, 26, 25, 24, 23.
Current Transformer (CT) Connection:
If the load current exceeds 5A, external Current Transformers (CTs) are required. The meter's internal settings allow users to configure the current ratio of the connected CTs to ensure accurate measurements. For example, if the highest current is 100A, use 100A/5A current transformers.
For loads less than 5A, the current can be run directly through the meter without external CTs.
4. Operating Instructions
Power On and Display
Once correctly wired and powered on, the meter's LCD will illuminate and display various electrical parameters. The meter typically cycles through different measurement screens automatically or can be navigated manually using the front panel buttons.
Navigation and Settings
The front panel features four buttons: 'SET', left arrow, right arrow, and enter/return. These buttons are used to navigate through the display screens and access settings menus. Consult the full product manual (if available) for detailed instructions on setting parameters like CT ratio, communication settings, and alarm thresholds.
5. Maintenance
To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your PD-3ST3 meter, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Keep the meter's display and casing clean using a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the surface.
- Environmental Conditions: Operate the meter within the specified operating temperature range of -10°C to 55°C. Avoid exposure to excessive moisture, dust, or corrosive environments.
- Connection Inspection: Periodically inspect all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion. Loose connections can lead to inaccurate readings or operational issues.
- Firmware Updates: Check with the manufacturer for any available firmware updates that may improve performance or add new features.
6. Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions
- No Display/Power:
- Verify that the 220VAC power supply is correctly connected to terminals 1 and 2 and is active.
- Check for any loose wiring or blown fuses in the power circuit.
- Inaccurate Current Readings:
- Ensure Current Transformers (CTs) are correctly installed and wired to terminals 4-9.
- Verify that the CT ratio setting in the meter's configuration matches the specifications of your installed CTs.
- Confirm that the load current does not exceed the CT's primary rating or the meter's direct input limit (5A).
- Communication Issues (RS485):
- Check the RS485 wiring (B and A terminals 59, 58) for correct polarity and secure connections.
- Verify the Modbus-RTU communication settings (baud rate, parity, slave ID) in the meter and your master device.
User Tips
- For accurate current measurements, always use appropriate Current Transformers (CTs) if your load current exceeds 5A. Ensure the CT ratio is correctly configured in the meter.
- The meter is capable of measuring Line-to-Line (L-L) voltages up to 450V, providing flexibility for various three-phase systems.
- Loads with less than 5A can be connected directly to the meter's current inputs without the need for external CTs.
