4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the device (refer to Figure 1).
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert 2 x 1.5V AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
4.2 Powering On/Off
- To Power On: Press and hold the MEAS button for 2 seconds.
- To Power Off: Press and hold the CLEAR button to shut down the device. The device will automatically shut down after 180 seconds of inactivity.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Laser Measurement (Rangefinder)
- Power On: Press and hold the MEAS button for 2 seconds.
- Single Measurement: Short press the MEAS button two times in a row to activate the laser and take a single measurement.
- Continuous Measurement: (Implied by device capabilities) Typically, a single short press of the MEAS button after power-on will initiate continuous measurement, updating the distance as the device moves.
- Reference Point: Use the dedicated button to switch between front-end and rear-end reference points for measurement, depending on your needs.
5.2 Advanced Laser Measurement Functions
The device supports various advanced measurement modes. Cycle through these modes using the appropriate button (often the 'Function' or 'Mode' button, if available, or repeated presses of MEAS/Unit button as shown in the video).
- Data Accumulation Function: Allows adding multiple laser measurements together. (Demonstrated in Video 1)
- Area Measurement: Measures the area of a surface. (Demonstrated in Video 1)
- Volume Measurement: Measures the volume of a space. (Demonstrated in Video 1)
- Pythagorean Measurement: Calculates distances indirectly using the Pythagorean theorem (single and double Pythagorean theorem modes available). (Demonstrated in Video 1)
5.3 Tape Measure Usage
- Pull out the 5m coated manganese steel tape measure from its port.
- The tape will automatically lock at the desired length due to the self-locking device.
- To retract the tape, press the tape measure take back button. The tape will safely and automatically rebound into the device.
5.4 Laser Cross-Marking
The device features a laser cross-marking function to project horizontal and vertical lines for alignment. Activate this function using the dedicated cross laser emitter button (refer to Figure 1).
5.5 Measurement Unit Switching
To switch between measurement units (meters, inches, feet), short press the 'Unit' button. (Demonstrated in Video 1)
5.6 Data Storage and Recall
The device can store up to 20 groups of historical measurement data. Use the 'Measurement units switch or view storage data' button to access and cycle through stored data. (Demonstrated in Video 1)
To reset historical data storage to zero, follow the procedure shown in Video 1, typically involving a long press or specific button combination on the 'Measurement units switch or view storage data' button.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
- Handling: Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to strong impacts. While designed to be durable, excessive force can cause damage.
- Lens Care: Keep the laser lens clean and free from dust or smudges to ensure accurate measurements. Use a soft lens cloth if necessary.
7. Troubleshooting
- Device not powering on: Check if the batteries are inserted correctly and are not depleted. Replace with fresh AAA batteries if necessary.
- Inaccurate laser measurements: Ensure the laser lens is clean. Make sure there are no obstructions in the laser path. Verify the reference point setting (front or rear).
- Tape measure not retracting: Ensure the tape is not bent or obstructed. Press the tape measure take back button firmly.
- Display issues: If the display is dim or flickering, replace the batteries. If the issue persists, contact customer support.
