1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, setup, and maintenance of your LIFAN 192F-2 18A gasoline engine. This 4-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine is designed for various applications, including agricultural equipment, ATVs, swamps, motobuxiers, and snowmobiles. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the engine to ensure proper use and longevity.
2. Safety Information
Always observe safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the engine. Pay attention to warning labels on the engine itself.
- Ensure adequate ventilation when operating the engine to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.
- Keep hands, feet, and clothing away from moving parts.
- Do not refuel while the engine is running or hot.
- Store fuel in an approved container in a well-ventilated area.
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
3. Setup and Installation
Proper setup is crucial for the engine's performance and safety.
-
Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully remove the engine from its packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage during transit. Ensure all components are present.
-
Mounting the Engine
Mount the engine securely to a stable, level surface or the intended equipment. The reinforced engine housing design with stiffeners ensures safe operation and transportation. Ensure proper alignment with the driven component via the 25mm shaft.

Fueling the Engine
The engine features a raised fuel tank designed for various equipment applications. Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. The fuel tank capacity is 6.5 liters.
- Ensure the engine is off and cool before refueling.
- Open the threaded fuel tank cap. The threaded design helps eliminate fuel leakage during operation.
- Fill the tank slowly to prevent spills. Do not overfill.
- Securely close the fuel tank cap after refueling.
- Ensure the fuel crane is in the 'ON' position to allow fuel flow to the carburetor. This is important for preventing fuel from entering the carburetor when not in use, especially on vehicles.

Adding Engine Oil
The oil crankcase volume is 1.1 liters. Use recommended 4-stroke engine oil (e.g., SAE 10W-30 or 10W-40, depending on ambient temperature).
- Place the engine on a level surface.
- Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick.
- Add oil slowly until it reaches the upper mark on the dipstick.
- Replace the oil filler cap/dipstick securely.
4. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to start and operate your engine.
-
Pre-Start Checks
- Check engine oil level.
- Check fuel level.
- Ensure air filter is clean and properly installed.
- Verify all connections are secure.
-
Starting the Engine (Manual Starter)
The engine is equipped with a reliable manual starter for all weather conditions.
- Turn the engine switch to the 'ON' position.
- Open the fuel valve.
- Move the choke lever to the 'CLOSED' position (if the engine is cold).
- Move the throttle lever slightly to the 'FAST' position.
- Grasp the starter grip and pull slowly until resistance is felt, then pull briskly.
- Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the 'OPEN' position.
- Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes before applying load.

Stopping the Engine
- Move the throttle lever to the 'SLOW' or 'IDLE' position.
- Turn the engine switch to the 'OFF' position.
- Close the fuel valve for storage or extended periods of non-use.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your engine.
-
Air Cleaner Maintenance
The air cleaner is vital for preventing dirt and debris from entering the engine. The engine features a prominent air cleaner housing with a label indicating "MAINTAIN AIR CLEANER".
- Check the air cleaner element daily or before each use.
- Clean or replace the element as necessary, especially in dusty conditions. Refer to the specific instructions for your air cleaner type (e.g., foam, paper).

Engine Oil Change
Change the engine oil after the first 20 hours of operation, and then every 50-100 hours or seasonally.
- Run the engine for a few minutes to warm the oil.
- Place a drain pan under the oil drain plug.
- Remove the oil drain plug and oil filler cap/dipstick to allow oil to drain completely.
- Reinstall the drain plug and refill with 1.1 liters of recommended oil.
- Check the oil level with the dipstick.
-
Spark Plug Inspection
Inspect the spark plug every 100 hours or annually. Clean or replace if necessary. Ensure the correct gap is maintained.
-
Fuel Filter
Inspect and clean or replace the fuel filter as needed to ensure clean fuel delivery to the carburetor.
