5.2 Android Smartphone Setup

The SKYDROID FPV Receiver is designed for use with Android smartphones and tablets that support OTG (On-The-Go) functionality. iOS devices are not supported.

  1. Install the FPV App: Download and install the 'FUAV' app. You can find it by searching 'FUAV' in your app store or by visiting the link: http://www.fuav.xin/download/skydroidfpv.apk.
  2. Connect the Receiver: Use the provided OTG cable (Micro-USB or Type-C, depending on your phone's port) to connect the FPV receiver to your Android smartphone.
  3. Enable OTG (if necessary): Some smartphones require you to manually enable the OTG function in their settings before use. Refer to your phone's manual for instructions.
  4. Power On and Auto-Search: Once connected and powered on (via your phone), long-press the menu button on the receiver for 3 seconds. The receiver will automatically self-search for frequencies and lock onto the strongest signal.

6. Operating Instructions

Once the receiver is connected to your device (Android smartphone/tablet, PC, or AV display) and powered on, the primary operation involves tuning into the FPV signal.

  1. Automatic Frequency Search: Long-press the menu button on the receiver for 3 seconds. The receiver will initiate an automatic scan across the 150 channels in the 5.8Ghz band.
  2. Signal Lock: The receiver will automatically detect and lock onto the strongest FPV signal available. The video feed from your drone's transmitter should then appear on your connected display.
  3. Frequency Spectrum Display: The device can display the frequency spectrum, which is useful for checking the signal strength and identifying potential interference or the optimal channel for your transmitter.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Signal/Flicker/Short Distance: The receiver features high scanning accuracy. Indoor environments, especially with walls, can cause signal reflections, leading to inaccurate frequency detection, flicker, or reduced range. It is crucial to operate the receiver in an open area and maintain a distance of more than 30 meters between the receiver and the FPV transmitter for optimal performance.
  • Android OTG Functionality: Ensure your Android smartphone or tablet supports OTG (On-The-Go) functionality. Some devices may require you to enable OTG manually in their system settings. If you are unsure, consult your phone's user manual or manufacturer's support.
  • iOS Incompatibility: This FPV receiver does not support the iOS operating system. It is designed exclusively for Android devices.
  • App Installation Issues: If you encounter problems installing the 'FUAV' app, ensure your device allows installations from unknown sources (if downloading directly from the APK link) or try searching for 'FUAV' in a reputable app store.

8. User Tips

While no specific user tips were available from customer reviews or Q&A, here are some general recommendations for optimal use:

  • Always ensure your FPV transmitter and receiver are adequately powered before use.
  • Perform a frequency scan in your operating environment to identify the clearest channel for your FPV feed.
  • Keep the receiver and its antennas clear of obstructions to maximize signal reception.
  • Regularly check for updates to the 'FUAV' app for improved performance and compatibility.

9. Warranty and Support

For warranty information, technical support, or service inquiries, please refer to the seller's policies or contact the XDRC Store directly. Keep your proof of purchase for any warranty claims.
