- Power on the device.
- Press the SET key to cycle through the MAT ranges until 'MAT1' (Wood) is selected.
- Carefully insert the probes into the wood surface. Ensure the probes penetrate sufficiently for an accurate reading.
- Read the moisture content displayed on the screen.
5.3 Measuring Building Material Moisture

Figure 5: Product test scenarios for various materials.
- Power on the device.
- Press the SET key to cycle through the MAT ranges to select the appropriate material group (e.g., MAT2 for building materials, MAT3 for anhydrous gypsum mortar, etc.). Refer to the 'Material Parameters' table below for specific ranges.
- Carefully insert the probes into the material surface.
- Read the moisture content displayed on the screen.
5.4 Ambient Temperature and Humidity Display

After powering on, short press the MODE button to cycle between moisture measurement and ambient temperature/humidity display. When ambient temperature/humidity is displayed, press the SET button to switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).
5.5 MAT Range Conversion
Video 4: Demonstration of MAT range conversion.
Press the SET key to cycle through the different material (MAT) ranges. Selecting the correct MAT range is crucial for accurate measurements for different materials.
5.6 Material Parameters

Figure 7: Material parameters table for accurate measurement.
| Range | Material | Moisture (%) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Beech, spruce, larch, birch, cherry, walnut | 8.8–54.8% |
| 2 | Oak, Pine, Maple, Ash, Douglas fir, Willow Eucalyptus | 7.0–47.9% |
| 3 | Cement mortar layer and concrete | 0.9–22.1% |
| 4 | Anhydrous gypsum mortar layer | 0.0–11.0% |
| 5 | Cement mortar | 0.7–8.6% |
| 6 | Limestone slurry and gypsum | 0.6–9.9% |
| 7 | Brick | 0.1–16.5% |
Warm reminder: The instrument will automatically power-off after about 10 minutes without any operation. Short press the power button to restart in automatic power-off mode.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Clean the probes after each use to ensure accurate readings. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device body. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
