3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Unboxing

3.3 Case Assembly (S400 Case Example)

For users who purchased the S400 case, follow these instructions for assembly. The S400 case is designed to house the RD6006/RD6006W and an AC-DC 400W switching power supply.

Important Safety Note: You should only connect the cables if you have a foundation in electronic and electrical engineering. The device must be reliably grounded to prevent electrical leakage.

3.4 Power Supply Unit (PSU) Selection and Warnings

If you are providing your own AC-DC switching power supply, ensure it is suitable. It must be grounded. The DC output voltage without load should be lower than 65V. Power grid voltage fluctuations can cause high output voltage and damage the device.

Before connecting any PSU, use a multimeter to verify its real output voltage is stable and matches the rated voltage. If the output is abnormal, contact support immediately and do not connect it to the RD power supply to avoid further damage.

Avoid using electric bike chargers, second-hand power supplies, or modified power supplies, as these can be unstable and may output high voltages, potentially damaging your load.

When connecting inductive loads (such as motors), the maximum working current should not exceed 1/3 of the device's rated range.

4. Operating Instructions

4.2 Keypad and Encoder

The device features a digital keypad and an encoder potentiometer for convenient adjustment of settings across wide or small ranges.

4.3 Display Styles

The RD6006/RD6006W supports both a traditional display style and a curve display interface, which shows real-time output voltage, current, and power curves.

4.4 Data Storage Function

The device allows for instantaneous storage and recall of setting parameters, making it convenient for repeated use.

4.5 App and PC Software Control

The RD6006W model supports remote control via a dedicated phone application (Android/iOS) using WiFi. Both RD6006 and RD6006W models can be controlled via PC software using a USB micro cable.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Firmware Upgrade

The device supports firmware upgrades to add new functions and improve performance. Follow the instructions provided in the PC software for the upgrade process.

5.2 Fuse Replacement

The device includes a removable 10A fuse. If the fuse burns out due to incorrect operation, you can replace it with the backup fuse provided in the socket. Ensure to use a CR1220 battery for the clock battery slot (not included).

5.3 Cleaning

Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Software and App Issues

APP/PC Software Incompatibility: Due to potential incompatibilities, it is recommended to test the APP and PC software functionality before purchase. The PC software supports Windows 7 and above. The Android APP supports Android 8.0 and above. The iOS APP supports iOS 10 and above. If you encounter issues, ensure your operating system meets the requirements.

WiFi Connection Problems (RD6006W): If you experience problems connecting the RD6006W to the phone APP via WiFi, verify the WiFi board is properly inserted, your WiFi network is 2.4GHz, and client/AP isolation and WMM functions are disabled on your router. Also, ensure location and storage services are enabled for the APP during installation. If connecting to PC via WiFi fails, note that WiFi connection to PC is a test function and may have compatibility issues; consider using a USB micro cable instead.

6.2 Hardware and Power Supply Issues

Physical Defects (Case/PSU): Minor deformation of the case during shipping can often be corrected by hand. Scratches on the PSU surface are cosmetic and do not affect performance. These are not considered defects affecting product functionality.

PSU Output Abnormalities: If the PSU output is abnormal, do not connect it to the RD power supply. Contact support immediately.

Inductive Load Overload: Ensure inductive loads do not draw more than 1/3 of the device's maximum rated current.

7. User Tips

  • Always verify PSU output with a multimeter before connecting to prevent damage.
  • For optimal performance and safety, ensure proper grounding when using an AC-DC switching power supply.
  • Regularly check for firmware updates to access new features and improvements.
  • When using the device for battery charging, ensure the automatic cut-off current value (10mA) is suitable for your battery type.
