2. Safety Warnings and Precautions

WARNING: Always test on a known live circuit before use to ensure the device is functioning correctly. If the stylus is not used in accordance with these instructions, the protection provided by the stylus may be impaired. Do not use if the stylus is damaged or does not operate correctly.

  • De-energize the circuit before performing any work that requires direct contact.
  • Do not exceed the specified measurement range (AC 12~1000V).
  • Avoid dropping or impacting the device, as this may affect its accuracy and safety.
  • Even if there is no display or sound, effective voltage may still be present if there is not a sufficient strength electrostatic field. If the stylus indicates the presence of voltage, confirm by other means. Factors such as shielded wires, insulation, distance from the voltage source, and type of voltage source can influence detection.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries promptly when the low battery indicator appears or if the device fails to power on. Always use new 1.5V AAA batteries.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible Cause / Solution
Unit fails to power onCheck whether batteries are properly installed. Replace with new batteries if necessary.
Inaccurate display/readingsRecalibrate the device (if applicable, refer to advanced manual) or replace batteries. Ensure the probe is clean.
Unable to measure voltageVerify correct sensitivity range selection (High/Low). Ensure the circuit is live.

9. User Tips

  • Always test the detector on a known live circuit (e.g., a working outlet) before using it on an unknown circuit to confirm its functionality.
  • For general voltage detection, use the High Sensitivity mode. When trying to pinpoint the exact location of a live wire or a breakpoint, switch to Low Sensitivity to avoid interference from nearby electrical fields.
  • The built-in LED flashlight is very useful in dimly lit environments, making it easier to see the area you are testing.
  • Remember that non-contact voltage detectors are primarily for indication and should not replace a multimeter for precise voltage measurements or circuit verification.
