  • Fan Headers: 4-pin CPU fan, 3-pin system fan
  • Front Panel Connectors: Reset SW, HDD-LED, Power SW, Power-LED

2.2 CPU Installation

  1. Open the CPU socket retention mechanism.
  2. Carefully align your Intel Xeon processor (LGA 2011-3 compatible) with the socket, ensuring the gold triangle on the CPU matches the indicator on the socket.
  3. Gently place the CPU into the socket. Do not force it.
  4. Close the retention mechanism to secure the CPU.
  5. Apply thermal paste to the CPU and install the CPU cooler. Connect the CPU fan to the 4-pin CPU fan header.

2.3 RAM Installation

Important instructions for DDR4 RAM installation order on the Kllisre X99 Motherboard
Figure 3: DDR4 RAM Installation Order

The Kllisre X99 motherboard features 4 DDR4 memory slots. Proper installation order is crucial for single and dual-channel operation:

  • The green RAM slots must be populated first. The black RAM slots cannot function alone.
  • All RAM should be installed preferentially in slot 3 and slot 4 (green slots).
  • For 1 RAM module: Install in slot 3 or slot 4.
  • For 2 RAM modules: Install in slot 3 and slot 4.
  • For 3 RAM modules: Install in slot 3, slot 4, and either slot 1 or slot 2.
  • For 4 RAM modules: Install in all slots (1, 2, 3, and 4).

Ensure the memory modules are DDR4 type and are inserted firmly until the clips on both sides lock into place.

2.4 Storage Device Installation

The motherboard supports NVMe M.2 SSDs and SATA drives.

  • NVMe M.2 SSD: Locate the M.2 slot (see Figure 2). Insert the M.2 SSD at an angle and secure it with the provided screw.
  • SATA Drives: Connect your SATA 2.0 or SATA 3.0 hard drives/SSDs to the available SATA ports using SATA data cables. Connect power from your power supply unit to the drives.

2.5 Expansion Card Installation

The motherboard includes one PCIe x16 slot for a graphics card and one PCIe x1 slot for other expansion cards.

  1. Align your expansion card with the appropriate PCIe slot.
  2. Press down firmly until the card is seated correctly.
  3. Secure the card with a screw to your PC case.

2.6 Power Connections

  1. Connect the 24-pin main power connector from your power supply unit (PSU) to the 24-pin DC header on the motherboard.
  2. Connect the 8-pin CPU power connector from your PSU to the 8-pin DC header near the CPU socket.

2.7 Front Panel and Rear I/O Connections

  • Connect your case's front panel cables (Power SW, Reset SW, HDD-LED, Power-LED) to the corresponding pins on the motherboard's front panel header (refer to Figure 2).
  • Connect USB devices, keyboard, mouse, Ethernet cable, and audio devices to the rear I/O ports as shown in Figure 4.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 First Boot

After all components are installed and connected, connect your monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Connect the power cord to your power supply and turn on the system. The system should boot to the BIOS/UEFI interface or begin the operating system installation process.

3.2 BIOS/UEFI Setup

To enter the BIOS/UEFI setup, press the designated key (commonly DEL or F2) during the initial boot sequence. In the BIOS, you can configure boot order, system time, CPU settings, memory timings, and other hardware parameters. Save changes before exiting.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

Regularly clean your computer's interior to prevent dust buildup, which can lead to overheating and component failure. Use compressed air to remove dust from fans, heatsinks, and other components. Ensure the system is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.

4.2 CMOS Battery

The CMOS battery (CR2032) powers the BIOS settings and real-time clock. Note that the motherboard may ship without a CMOS battery due to shipping regulations. You will need to install a CR2032 battery if one is not present. If your system experiences issues with retaining BIOS settings or incorrect time, replace the CMOS battery.

5. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Check all power connections (24-pin, 8-pin CPU, PSU switch, wall outlet).
  • No Display: Ensure the monitor is connected to the graphics card (if dedicated) or motherboard (if integrated graphics are used and supported by CPU). Reseat RAM modules.
  • System Instability/Crashes: Check RAM installation (refer to Figure 3 for correct slot usage). Ensure CPU cooler is properly installed. Verify power supply is sufficient for all components.
  • CPU Compatibility: This motherboard supports Intel Xeon processors with LGA 2011-3 socket. Some users have confirmed compatibility with Xeon 2670 V3 without requiring BIOS modifications. For other specific CPU models, consult online resources or the seller.

7. User Tips

  • RAM Installation: Always prioritize the green RAM slots (3 and 4) for single or dual-channel configurations. Refer to Figure 3 for detailed instructions.
  • CPU Compatibility: The motherboard is confirmed to work with Intel Xeon E5-2670 V3 processors without requiring any BIOS modifications. For other Xeon processors, verify compatibility before installation.
  • CMOS Battery: If your motherboard arrives without a CMOS battery, install a CR2032 battery to ensure BIOS settings are saved and the system clock functions correctly.
  • Material Variations: Due to different batches of factory materials, the appearance and color of certain components (e.g., PCB boards, heat sinks, PCI-e and RAM slots) may vary. This does not affect product functionality.
