5. Setup

5.1. Adjusting the Headband

For optimal comfort and noise reduction, adjust the headband to fit your head snugly. The headband is telescopic and ergonomic, designed to fit various head sizes.

  1. Hold the earmuffs with both hands.
  2. Slide the ear cups up or down along the headband until they cover your ears completely and comfortably.
  3. Ensure a tight seal around your ears to maximize noise reduction.

5.2. Charging the Earmuffs

The Mpow HP102 earmuffs feature a rechargeable battery. Before first use, fully charge the device.

  1. Locate the charging port on one of the ear cups.
  2. Connect the provided USB charging cable to the charging port on the earmuffs.
  3. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a suitable USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, wall adapter).
  4. The LED indicator will show a red light during charging.
  5. Once fully charged (approximately 4 hours), the LED indicator will turn green.
  6. Disconnect the charging cable.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds until the red and blue lights flash alternately.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds until the lights turn off.

6.2. Bluetooth Connection

The earmuffs can connect to your device via Bluetooth for wireless audio streaming and calls.

  1. Ensure the earmuffs are powered off.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds until the red and blue lights flash alternately, indicating pairing mode.
  3. On your smartphone or Bluetooth-enabled device, go to Bluetooth settings and search for available devices.
  4. Select "Mpow 102" from the list.
  5. Once paired successfully, the light on the earmuffs will turn off.
  6. You can now stream music and make calls via Bluetooth.

6.3. Line-in Mode (3.5mm Audio Cable)

For devices without Bluetooth or when you prefer a wired connection, use the included 3.5mm audio cable.

  1. Plug one end of the 3.5mm audio cable into the audio input jack on the earmuffs.
  2. Plug the other end of the cable into the audio output jack of your device (e.g., smartphone, MP3 player).
  3. The earmuffs will automatically switch to line-in mode.

6.4. Volume Control

  • Bluetooth Mode: Adjust volume directly from your connected device.
  • Line-in Mode: Use the volume control knob on the earmuffs to adjust the audio level.

6.5. Call Management

When connected via Bluetooth, you can manage phone calls directly from the earmuffs using the integrated controls.

  • Answer/End Call: Press the multi-function button (usually the power button or a dedicated call button).
  • Reject Call: Press and hold the multi-function button.
  • Voice calls only work in Bluetooth mode.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the earmuffs with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse in water.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the earmuffs in the provided carrying bag to protect them from dust and damage. Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge regularly, even if not in constant use.

8. Troubleshooting

Q: The earmuffs are not turning on.
A: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the earmuffs to a power source using the USB charging cable.
Q: Cannot pair with Bluetooth device.
A: Make sure the earmuffs are in pairing mode (red and blue lights flashing alternately). Ensure your device's Bluetooth is enabled and within range. Try restarting both the earmuffs and your device.
Q: No sound in Bluetooth mode.
A: Check the volume levels on both the earmuffs (if applicable) and your connected device. Ensure the earmuffs are properly paired and connected.
Q: No sound in Line-in mode.
A: Ensure the 3.5mm audio cable is securely connected to both the earmuffs and your audio source. Check the volume levels on both the earmuffs and your audio source. Remember the volume knob on the earmuffs works only in aux-in mode.

9. User Tips

  • Initial Fit: The earmuffs may feel a little tight during the first few uses. This tight seal is crucial for effective noise reduction and will become more comfortable over time.
  • Noise Reduction Expectation: These earmuffs are designed to reduce loud, sustained noise to a safe level, allowing you to still hear important sounds in your environment. They are not intended to be completely soundproof.
  • Call Functionality: Remember that voice calls are only supported when the earmuffs are connected via Bluetooth.
  • Volume Control: The physical volume control knob on the earmuffs is active only when using the 3.5mm audio cable (aux-in mode). For Bluetooth audio, adjust the volume directly on your connected device.
