1. Introduction
The SHANGSIMOUDLECX HXDSBOXAI series is a versatile digital display meter designed to work with various sensors that provide analog output. It can display actual physical quantities such as temperature, frequency, motor speed, pressure, liquid level, and concentration.
This instrument supports both current and voltage input signals. It is pre-configured to adapt to standard inputs like 0-10V, 2-10V, 0-20mA, and 4-20mA. Users can also configure bias and gain parameters to adapt to other analog inputs within the 0-10V or 0-20mA range.
By default, the display shows values as a percentage. The display range can be customized using parameters F0-2 to F0-4. Models equipped with an RS485 interface facilitate communication between multiple meters for networked display solutions.

7. Communication Protocol (for 'with RS485 communication version' only)
7.1. User Host Access to Collected Value
The communication utilizes the standard Modbus-RTU protocol. Use the multi-read instruction 03H to read data. The returned parameter value is an integer, representing the display value of the digital tube with the decimal point removed. For example, if the F0-0 digital tube displays 60.0, the communication will read 600. Modbus register addresses correspond directly to parameters (e.g., F7-2 corresponds to Modbus address 0702H).
Example: Reading F0-0 and F0-1 parameters (with default F7 parameters):
| Host Sends | Value | Slave (HXDSBOXAI) Response | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slave address (F7-0) | 01H | Slave address (F7-0) | 01H |
| Modbus function number | 03H | Modbus function number | 03H |
| Start address (high byte) | 00H | Returns the number of bytes (4 bytes) | 04H |
| Start address (low byte) | 00H | High byte of address content (F0-0) | 02H |
| Read word count (high byte) | 00H | Low byte of the content of 000 address (F0-0) | 58H |
| Read word count (low byte) | 02H | High byte of 0001H address content (F0-1) | 02H |
| CRC (low byte) | C4H | Low byte of 0001H address content (F0-1) | 58H |
| CRC (high byte) | 0BH | CRC (low byte) | 7AH |
| CRC (high byte) | C2H |
In this example, the read F0-0 and F0-1 values are 0258H = 600, meaning the collected value F0-0 is 60.0% and the displayed value F0-1 is 60.0.
7.2. Networking Between Tables
The RS485 interface allows for networking multiple display meters. A master meter can transmit its collected data to slave meters for display. A network can only have one master table but multiple slave tables. Only the master table needs to have its display range configured; slave tables do not require this.
7.2.1. Broadcast Mode Network Diagram (F7-4 = 2)

This diagram shows a 'Primary table' (master) with F7-0=3 and F7-4=3, connected via an RS485 total line to three 'From table' (slave) units, each with F7-0=1 and F7-4=1. In this mode, the master broadcasts data to all slaves.
Advantages of Broadcast Mode: Simple setup with fewer parameters. All slave meters only need to set one parameter (F7-4 = 1). Fast networking.
7.2.2. Address Polling Network Diagram (F7-4 = 3)

This diagram shows a 'main table' (master) with F7-4=2, connected via an RS485 total line to three 'From table' (slave) units, each with F7-4=1. In this mode, the master polls each slave individually for data.
Advantages of Address Polling: Each slave display table can return data, allowing for network connectivity verification via the master meter's receiving indicator. However, each meter requires individual parameter settings.
7.3. Operating as a Modbus-RTU Display Slave (Applicable to V1.02 and above)
Set parameter F7-4 to 1. In this mode, parameters F0-1 (register address 01H) and F0-2 (register address 02H) can be modified using Modbus-RTU 06H and 10H commands. The meter's display will no longer be associated with analog quantity collection. The device address is set by the F7-0 parameter.
Example (assuming F7-0 = 1, F7-4 = 1):
- Writing 16.88 data to the meter (F0-1 is 1688, F0-2 is 2): The meter will display 16.88 upon reception.
Host sends:01 10 00 01 00 02 04 06 98 00 02 32 C5
Table response:01 10 00 01 00 02 10 08 - Setting F0-2 to 1 (one decimal place) and writing 1234 to register 01 (F0-1): The meter will display 123.4.
Host send (06H write):01 06 00 01 04 D2 5A 97
Table response (06H write):01 06 00 01 04 D2 5A 97
OR
Host send (10H write):01 10 00 01 00 01 02 04 D2 25 1C
Table response (10H write):01 10 00 01 00 01 50 09
8. User Tips
- Configuration: Many users inquire about configuration. Always refer to the parameter tables (F0, F1, F2, F7) and the menu navigation flowchart (Figure 5.2) for precise adjustments.
- Analog Sensor Compatibility: This meter is confirmed to read 4-20mA sensors. Ensure correct wiring as per Figure 4.1 and configure F1-0 for the appropriate input type.
- Manual Adjustment: Displayed numbers can be manually increased or decreased using the Up and Down arrow buttons during parameter setting. Long-press for faster changes.
- Offline Status: If the meter displays 'E.oFL', check the input signal against the F1-4 drop detection threshold.
9. Troubleshooting
- No Display/Incorrect Reading:
- Verify power supply connections (PWR, GND) and ensure voltage is within the specified range for your model.
- Check analog input wiring (Ai, mA) for correct polarity and connection.
- Ensure F1-0 (Input type selection) is correctly set for your sensor (0-10V, 2-10V, 0-20mA, or 4-20mA).
- If using current input, confirm that Ai and mA terminals are short-circuited.
- Check F1-2 (Input gain) and F1-3 (Input offset) parameters if the displayed value is incorrect but the input signal is present.
- 'E.oFL' Displayed: This indicates an offline status. Check the input signal level. If it falls below the F1-4 (Drop detection threshold) value, this error will appear.
- Relay Not Activating (Relay Output Version):
- Verify F2-0 (Relay output status configuration) is set to 1 (Relay closed) or 2 (Relay open) as desired.
- Check F2-1 (Condition type), F2-2 (Comparison value 1), and F2-3 (Comparison value 2) to ensure the conditions for relay activation are met.
- Consider the F2-4 (Hysteresis interval) which prevents rapid switching.
- If F2-5 (Relay status when offline) is configured, an offline condition might override normal relay operation.
- RS485 Communication Issues (RS485 Version):
- Check RS485 wiring (485+, 485-) for correct polarity and secure connections.
- Ensure F7-0 (Local address), F7-1 (Baud rate), and F7-2 (Data Format) match the settings of your Modbus master device.
- Observe the R and T indicator lights on the front panel to confirm data transmission and reception.
- If networking multiple meters, ensure F7-4 (Communication type) is correctly set for master/slave roles.
- Parameter Reset: If configuration becomes problematic, you can restore factory settings by setting F7-5 to 111.
10. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the display and casing. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Environmental Conditions: Operate the device within its specified environmental limits to ensure longevity. Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, or corrosive environments.
