1. Introduction

The BTMETER HP-5800S is a versatile 3-in-1 Air Quality Monitor designed for professional measurement of various airborne pollutants. It accurately detects PM2.5, PM10, Formaldehyde (HCHO), and Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC), including benzene, carbon monoxide, ammonia, hydrogen, alcohol, and cigarette smoke. This device provides fast and accurate readings, making it an essential tool for monitoring air quality in diverse environments.

3.1 Device Overview

The HP-5800S features a compact design with a 2.8-inch TFT color LCD for clear display of readings. It includes a built-in bracket for convenient placement on flat surfaces.

3.2 Control Panel

  • POWER Key: Long press for 2 seconds to turn the device on or off.
  • RUN/STOP Key: Press to initiate or pause measurements in Real Time Mode.
  • BACK Key: Press to return to the previous menu.
  • UP Key: Moves the cursor up in menu options.
  • ENTER Key: Selects the highlighted menu item.
  • DOWN Key: Moves the cursor down in menu options.

3.3 Charging and Airflow Ports

  • Charging Power Supply Mouth: DC 5V input for charging.
  • Red Charge Indicator: Illuminates when the device is charging.
  • Green Charge Indicator: Illuminates when the battery is fully charged.
  • PM2.5 Measuring Air Outlet: Where processed air exits.
  • PM2.5 Measuring Air Inlet: Where ambient air enters for analysis.

4. Setup

4.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the device. Connect the provided USB cable to the charging port (DC 5V) on the top of the monitor and plug it into a compatible USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, power bank, or USB wall adapter). The red indicator light will show that the device is charging. Once fully charged, the green indicator light will illuminate.

4.2 Powering On/Off

To power on the device, long press the POWER Key for approximately 2 seconds. To power off, long press the POWER Key again for 2 seconds.

4.3 Placement

For optimal and continuous monitoring, use the built-in kickstand on the back of the device to place it upright on a stable, flat surface. Ensure that the air inlet and outlet ports are unobstructed.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Navigation

Use the UP and DOWN keys to navigate through menu options. Press the ENTER key to select an option or confirm a setting. Use the BACK key to return to the previous menu.

5.2 Real-Time Measurement (Test Option)

After powering on, the device typically enters a comprehensive test mode displaying HCHO, TVOC, PM2.5, PM1.0, and PM10 readings. To initiate or pause real-time measurement:

  1. From the main screen, press the ENTER key to select the "Test" option.
  2. The display will show real-time values for HCHO, TVOC, PM2.5, PM1.0, and PM10.
  3. Press the RUN/STOP key to start or pause the measurement.
  4. You can select specific parameters like "Hazard", "PM2.5", "TVOC", or "HCHO" to view detailed measurements for each.

5.3 Recording Function (REC)

The device can record measurement data:

  1. From the main screen, navigate to the "REC" option using the UP/DOWN keys and press ENTER.
  2. Press the RUN/STOP button to start recording data.
  3. Press the RUN/STOP button again to stop recording data.

5.4 Correction Function (CAL)

To calibrate the sensors:

  1. From the main screen, navigate to the "CAL" option using the UP/DOWN keys and press ENTER.
  2. Use the UP and DOWN keys to adjust the calibration data for HCHO, TVOC, PM2.5, PM1.0, and PM10.
  3. Press ENTER to confirm the setting and proceed to the next data calibration parameter.
  4. Example calibration values: HCHO CAL: 0.00mg/m3, TVOC CAL: 0%, PM2.5 CAL: 22%, PM1.0 CAL: 0%, PM10 CAL: 22%.

5.5 Settings (Set Up)

To access and adjust device settings:

  1. From the main screen, navigate to the "Set Up" option using the UP/DOWN keys and press ENTER.
  2. You can adjust various parameters:

  • Button Sound: ON/OFF
  • Shutdown: Set automatic shutdown time (e.g., 30 Min) or disable.
  • PM2.5 Test: ON/OFF
  • TVOC.HCHO Test: ON/OFF
  • Record Time Setting: Total Time (e.g., 1 Hour), Interval Time (e.g., 10 Min).

Alarm Setting:

  • Alarm Function: ON/OFF
  • HCHO Alarm: Set threshold (e.g., 0.1mg/m3).
  • TVOC Alarm: Set threshold (e.g., 0.6mg/m3).
  • PM2.5 Alarm: Set threshold (e.g., 75 ug/m3).
  • PM1.0 Alarm: Set threshold (e.g., 75 ug/m3).
  • PM10 Alarm: Set threshold (e.g., 75 ug/m3).
  • Hazard Alarm: Set hazard level (e.g., 30).

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the monitor in the provided storage bag when not in use to protect it from dust and physical damage.
  • Environment: Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, high humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the device regularly, especially if it will be stored for an extended period.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Device does not power on: Ensure the device is fully charged. If the battery is low, connect it to a power source using the USB cable.
  • Inconsistent or inaccurate readings: The device may require calibration. Refer to Section 5.4 for instructions on using the Correction Function (CAL). Ensure the air inlet and outlet are not obstructed.
  • Device unresponsive: Try performing a soft reset by powering the device off and then on again.
  • No display: Check if the device is powered on and fully charged. If the issue persists, contact customer support.

9. User Tips

  • Regular Calibration: If you notice any discrepancies in readings or after prolonged use, it is recommended to recalibrate the sensors using the 'CAL' function to maintain accuracy.
  • Sensitive Environments: This monitor is particularly effective for assessing air quality in environments where sensitive individuals (e.g., pregnant women, babies, elderly) reside.
