Important Compatibility Note
This meter is NOT compatible with inverters from the following brands: Solax, Sofar, Sungrow, Growatt, Huawei, Deye, Hoymiles, Goodwe, Omnik. Please do not purchase this meter if you intend to use it with any of these inverter systems.
If you require an English CE certified version, please contact the seller for specific product options.
6. Setup and Installation
The meter is designed for DIN-rail mounting. Follow these steps for proper installation:
- Mounting: Securely attach the meter to a standard 35mm DIN rail in an appropriate electrical enclosure.
- Wiring - Power Supply: Connect the main power lines to the designated terminals (L and N for single-phase, A, B, C, N for three-phase). Refer to the wiring diagrams below.
- Wiring - Current Transformers (CTs): For DTSU666-CT models, connect the current transformers around the respective phase wires and connect their secondary wires to the meter's CT input terminals. Ensure correct polarity.
- Wiring - RS485 Communication: Connect the RS485 A and B terminals to your communication network. Ensure proper termination and biasing if required by your Modbus network.
- Verification: Double-check all wiring connections for tightness and correctness before restoring power.

7. Operating Instructions
Once installed and powered, the meter will automatically begin measuring. The LCD display shows various electrical parameters. Use the blue button on the front panel to cycle through the display screens.
- Power On: After successful wiring, apply power to the circuit. The meter's LCD display should illuminate.
- Display Navigation: Press the blue button (usually labeled with an arrow) on the front of the meter to scroll through different measured values such as Voltage (U), Current (I), Power (P), Frequency (F), Total kWh (Exp. and Imp.), and other parameters.
- Reading Values: Each press of the button will advance to the next parameter. The displayed value will typically show the unit (e.g., V, A, kW, Hz, kWh).
- Modbus Communication: For remote data access, ensure your RS485 connection is properly configured and connected to a Modbus master device. Refer to the Modbus communication protocol documentation for detailed register maps and communication settings.

8. Maintenance
The CHINT smart energy meters are designed for long-term, reliable operation with minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks are recommended:
- Cleaning: Keep the meter's exterior clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Environmental Conditions: Ensure the operating environment remains within the specified temperature and humidity ranges to prevent damage.
- Connection Checks: Periodically inspect all wiring connections to ensure they remain secure and free from corrosion. This should only be done by qualified personnel with power disconnected.
- Firmware Updates: If available, consult the manufacturer's website or support for information on firmware updates.
9. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your meter, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Meter display is blank | No power supply; Faulty wiring | Check power connections and ensure voltage is within specified range. Verify all wiring is correct and secure. |
| Incorrect readings or no energy accumulation | Incorrect wiring; Faulty CT connection (for CT models); Meter malfunction | Review wiring diagrams carefully. Ensure CTs are installed with correct orientation and connected to the right terminals. If problem persists, contact support. |
| RS485 communication failure | Incorrect wiring (A/B swapped); Incorrect Modbus settings (address, baud rate); Incompatible inverter/system | Verify RS485 A and B connections. Check Modbus address and baud rate settings. Confirm compatibility with your inverter system (refer to Section 6). |
| Meter not compatible with inverter | Known incompatibility with certain inverter brands | This meter is not compatible with Solax, Sofar, Sungrow, Growatt, Huawei, Deye, Hoymiles, Goodwe, Omnik inverters. No solution for direct integration with these brands. |
10. User Tips
- Verify Inverter Compatibility: Before purchasing or installing, double-check that your inverter system is not on the list of incompatible brands (Solax, Sofar, Sungrow, Growatt, Huawei, Deye, Hoymiles, Goodwe, Omnik). This is the most common issue reported by users.
- Check Wiring Carefully: Many operational issues stem from incorrect wiring. Always refer to the provided diagrams and ensure all connections are tight and correctly polarized.
- Modbus Configuration: If using RS485, ensure the Modbus address and baud rate settings on the meter match those of your Modbus master device.
